Draft at brewer. Copper pour with a thick white head. Big pepper smell. Taste is mellow then fire. Different and better than most pepper brews.

On tap at the Creekside Tavern, this pours a light amber into the glass, with a light soapy head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is spot on for jalapeño peppers, caramel and some sweet vegetal notes. Flavors are of caramel, biscuit flour, pepper skins and a wallop of capsaicin to finish the pull. The mouthfeel, once past the heat, is medium and carbonated subtly. Very interesting brew here, and I actually quite like the weird combination. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beer #9 Asheville trip. Lightly hazy orange. Aroma is lightly of caramel malts. Flavor is light caramel malts, that are slowly destroyed by a lingering heat. Can’t say the jalapeno did much for flavor, really just making it hot. Not a big fan of chili pepper beers, and this one just confirmed my general bias against them.

Tried with a sample at one of the breweries. Not bad. A little spicy, but very mild overall.

Sampled at GABF 2013. Orange appearance with a beige head. Spicy jalapeño pepper aroma. Similar flavor with light malts and spices.

Draft. Pours amber orange with a white head. Light chili aroma with some pale malts. The flavor has good jalapeno flavor with not a ton of heat, with a plain pale malty base. Solid.

On tap at Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Nose shows mild hop presence, some burnt jalapeño and wet dog. Taste is nicely balanced, with more flavor than heat from the peppers but I nice slight kick at the end.

Draft sampler at Asheville Brewing’s Merrimon Avenue location. Medium amber color,, small white head that mostlyy lasted with good lacing, rather strong jalapeno aroma, light body, flavor of jalapenos that thankfully isn’t overpowering with a hint of celery as well and malt to balance things. Offbeat but interesting. Tasted on July 7, 2012.

Draught at Plant. Malty and a bit chewy. Caramel throughout. Then the presence of jalapeño pepper.

Sampler at the brewpub. It poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, jalapenos and caramel. The taste was of jalapenos, lemons and some maltiness. Interesting.
