Bomber from Bruisin’. I can see this is filtered as I pour the copper brew into a glass. I’m none too impressed with the aroma, it’s muted and slightly vegetal but clean for the most part. The flavor is a different story. While it is mild, there is still commendable hop presence in the way of clean pine and citrus. The finish is light though zesty and leaves a pleasing bready sweetness for balance. This is a great, simple, but enjoyable American styled session brew.

Bottle. Pours amber with white head. Nose/taste of orange with peel, caramel, malt and grassy citrus hops. Medium body. Finishes with a dry orange peel. Clean and crisp.

Strong aroma is malty and fruity with yeasty and grassy overtones and a hint of horehound. It pours a clear golden amber with a thick, fluffy eggshell head. Malty flavor has an overtone of Mandarin orange with a hint of lemon, as well as subtle caramel and grassy notes and just a touch of hoppy bitterness. Smooth texture is fairly fizzy and leaves a malty, sour citrus finish that has a touch of hops. A worthy homage to the inventor of the legendary synthesizer!

Bomber---my first sundown beer of 2012. A reviewer stated that the color was golden tea. I like the description and find it accurate, so I will go with that. Add to the coloring a good size, foaming head that retains the lacing through the drink. The aroma is more of a malt tangent, biscuit, caramel---but the taste is way more of a hop flavor, but not over done. The beer doesn’t have an overwhelming hop finish, so it finishes smooth. Good sipping beer, but nothing extraordinary. Bruisin Ales.

Draft at Asheville Pizza. Pours slightly orange and clear with a half an inch of white foam. A bit of citrus on the nose. A tad citrusy on the tongue. The finish has some hop bitterness which gives it some oomph.

An orange amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, smooth floral hops, caramel malt, nice. In mouth, caramel malt with grassy floral hops, nice and smooth. On tap at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, Oct. 22 2011.

Draft at the brewpub on Coxe. Hazy, light and orange with a sticky top. This has an odd green pepperiness to it that threw a bunch of us for a little bit of a loop. As it warmed it morphed into a more "normal" earthy amber. Different. (#4292, 10/5/2011)

Bottle courtesy of butters on 01/15/2011 at the 13th Richmond Gathering. Clear golden body with a small white head. Dry malt aroma with some nutty notes. Dry nutty and malty flavor with some bittering in the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Poured into a pint glass. Apparently this is about a year old. We’ll see is this APA can stand the test of time. 4.0 A: First pour yielded more than a hand of head with very little actual liquid accumulation. Several pours later I got a full glass. Despite having "filtered" in the name, this has a pretty good haze to it. Dark yellow in color with some crap floating throughout. Pillowy white head with very good retention and tons of lacing. 3.5 S: Earthy and piney hops with maybe some pineapple as well. A bit of caramel. Grainy with a dry dustiness to it. 3.5 T: A lot fruitier than the nose and features peach and apple notes. Bready yeastiness with a touch of caramel. A soft bitterness. 3.5 M: Medium body. Chewy. A bit overcarbonated. Smooth enough. 3.5 D: It’s not that bad right now. I wonder what it would have been like fresh. This would be a much better beer if the yeast were cleaner. Thanks Richmond crew! transparent gold-tea, thinnest white ring. Bit of grain, honey, and hop in the nose, more balanced dough and light pine/grapefruit flavor. Bit washed out finish, lightly fruity, juice-like, but pleasant and somewhat balanced.

Aroma is heavy malt (bread, caramel, toasted, meal), average hops (earthy, woody), and light esters (fruity) with notes of dust. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, caramel, toasted, meal), average hops (earthy, woody), and esters (fruity) with notes of dust. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation, and low creaminess with a dry finish.
