3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Asheville Pizza and Brewing (Coxe Ave.). Dark, cola-like pour with a quickly dissipating khaki head. Aroma of light floral hops, coffee, and toasted malt. Roasted malt and chocolate flavors. Thick for a low ABV porter. Good overall even if this was heavier than I expected.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
22 oz. bottle from the Greenlife Grocery in Asheville. Pours a clear dark brown color with a small beige head. The aroma was roasted coffee/espresso with a slight sourness. The flavor was roasted to almost burnt, dark chocolate, coffee with more sour fruitiness. Dry with some bitterness in the finish. Very thin and watery. I don’t know how old this was or how well it was stored, but it was not something I would seek out again.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Cool bottle- ninja and rising sun theme. Pours a very dark brown color with a centimeter-thick tan head that leaves some thin, consistent lacing down the sides of the glass. Aroma of coffee beans, vanilla, milk chocolate, roasted malts, and malt powder. Flavor of milk chocolate powder, roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, metallic notes, and a bit of hops. Medium bodied, with gentle carbonation and a powdery mouthfeel. Unfortunately a bit too watery. Otherwise, this is a nice porter.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber from Asheville Pizza--pours a dark brown, almost black with minimum head and little lacing on the glass during the drink. Chocolate, roasted malt and some smoke comprised the aroma. The taste was of mild sweetness from the chocolate. Slightly bitter for a porter.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Dark brown with some garnet highlights and a creamy, tan head. Decent lacing.
Aroma: Roasted coffee notes with light caramel notes in the background.
Taste: Roasted malt, husk, coffee, slight fruitiness and some nuttiness. Perhaps a bit over roasted.
Palate: Medium-low carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-short, roasty finish.
Overall: This certainly isn’t taking the place of my favorit porters, but it isn’t terrible either.
Rebuy: Probably not.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber. Poured cola brown with a huge, creamy cap of khaki head, which also rolled up and out of the bottle. The aroma picked up dusty, drier chocolate notes and toasty black malts, but there was some cardboard and dank potential infection that got in the way. The flavor had more genero-dark malts than chocolate, with some touches of choc and molasses on the edges.. mild sourness again hinted at infection, and the same dark, dank stuff from the nose was in here.. roasty chocolate and molasses with a hint of cardboard on the finish. Medium-bodied and too carbonated on the palate.. this may be in the early-ish stages of infection.
