COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Everyone loves a good ninja, and we’re no exception. This beer has chopped, flipped and posed its way to its pedestal as one of our most popular and asked-about offerings. "How?" you may ask. Part of it is pure stealth power and part of it is pure secret, and we’d have to kill you. But the other part is the rich, satisfying body and hard-hitting chocolate finish with notes of coffee and caramel. Carefully measured quantities of Mt. Hood, Northern Brewer and Cascade hops added with masterful precision balance it all out.

Appearance: Pours an opaque, black body with a creamy, khaki-colored head. Smell: Aroma of roasted malts, hunks of baker’s chocolate, and maybe, just maybe a little hint of licorice. Taste: Roasted maltiness with the flavor of dark, unsweetened chocolate. Not really much hop character at any point. Finishes roasty and chocolatey. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Soft, spritzy carbonation. Drinkability: Not bad at all, it really started to grow on me more and more towards the end.

BossHossBikes (148) - California, USA - SEP 24, 2007
Draught at brewpub. Pour is a very dark ruby with a light tan head. I can’t say much about the aroma. I have difficulty picking out the aroma of beers in restaurant/bars. I did notice some cocoa though. The taste of of cocoa, oatmeal, coffee, and some roasty notes. The finish made the cocoa burst a little more. This was decent.

Pours a very dark brown, with a medium, foamy light brown head. A light chocolate aroma fills the air, with some dark malts and extremely light roasty smells as well. The flavor was pretty big on the roast, some dark chocolate, with a full bodied palate. Pretty good porter, nice flavor, with pretty much no bitterness in the aftertaste. More chocolatey than anything, which is fine by me.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with tight light beige head. The aroma is caramelly with some ashy notes. The flavor is creamy with some caramel and some charcoal notes. The finish is sweet, with some charred notes lingering in the aftertaste. Drinkable.

nearbeer (2651) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 18, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2009 Draft at pub. Opaque brown-black with a lasting head and nice lace. Cocoa, charred wood and espresso on the nose. Flavors of peppery oak, cocoa, molasses and some sourish notes as well. Light-medium body is chuggably watery and smoothly carbonated. Very true to the style. Rerated with a bomber bottle, upgraded from 3.6 to 3.7. Very nice inexpensive porter, similar to Sierra Nevada, but thinner.
