(22oz bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of ash, roasted malt, grass, grapefruit, pine, chocolate, and coffee. Flavor of roasted malt, ash, cocoa, and hops (grass, some citrus) with a dry finish.

Draft @ the brewpub on Coxe Ave, Asheville, NC. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolatearoma. Roasted malty chocolate and caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate and caramel finish.

Draft. Beige head atop clear red-dark brown body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, some roast, light orange/earthy. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, coffee/roast, light earthy/orange/grapefruit. Light-medium body, somewhat smooth.

Ninja Porter (formerly Rook Porter)-on tap-pours a tan head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate. Taste is dark malt-chocolate, coffee, faint hops. Minimum carbonation.

Draft sample at KBJ08. Poured clear brown color with medium off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium roasted coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a flat carbonation. Medium chocolate sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Sold drinkable brew.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a very dark brown hued body with a light brown head. Aroma is strongly hoppy for a porter, with a ton of citrus, dominated by grapefruit. Some chocolate and sugars backing the porter hop assault. Taste is on the watery side of things. Hoppy still, but not as much so. Chocolate, and if I read my notes right turbinado. Light bubbles.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2009 Re-rate July 2009. Pours black with a small, fizzy, brown head, diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, caramel, coffee), light hop (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of smoke, charcoal, and prune. Medium bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells chocolatey and earthy with some spicy hints. Tastes of dark fruit, chocolatey and spicy with a velvety mouthfeel and an earthy finish.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown nearly black with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and carmel. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, bakers cocoa and light coffee with a smooth lingering roasty finish.
