GBBF. Cask. Clear dark amber beer. Medium dry palate. Neutral malt and hops. Serviceable but just another English bitter.

On cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. Amber colour. Soft mouthfeel. Caramel malt on the palate. Modest bitterness. Soft mouthfeel. A fairly straightforward, traditional bitter. A bit short of hops I felt.

Brown/orange with a good white head. Stuffy, damp tobacco and light malts contribute to a bland nose. Stiff caramel malts, a protracted roasty finish with hints of orange and toffee sweetness. I’d be pretty chuffed to get a pint of this in my local.

Cask @ GBBF 2009. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma. Fruity malty flavor with some hints of hops and caramel. Has a fruity malty finish with some hoppy hints.

Cask at GBBF 2009 ... amber ... sulpherous fruit nose ... dull fruit ... light soft malt .

Amber body. Aroma of sour grass. Malt-fruity flavour and dusty hops. Straightforward bitter tail. Somewhat tame and flat in the mouth. Not up to par for a English bitter (cask, sample at GBBF, 06.08.2009).

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Tawny colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with apricots, citrus and dusty hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, solid grainy malt and dusty, citrussy hops in the finish. Light body, balanced sweetness. A decent bitter.
