Cask@Derby Winter Beer Festival 2013. Brownish bronze beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is malty with some gentle roasted elements. The flavour is smooth with a good degree of bitterness and malts. Overall a nice malty and bitter beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask, Derby Winter Fest 13. Copper with a bubbly foam. Aromas are toffee and spices with raisins. Boozy with grapefruit and piney notes. Flavours are nice malty and chewy toffee in the White Shield vein. Bitter hops with grapefruit and woody pine. Juicy fruit with peppery notes. Warming and very good

Woody red with lasting off white head. Richly hoppy, welcoming fruit medley sweetness - oddly gassy later on? English strong performs very crunchy sweet malt with a decent stab of pine, soft grapefruit and hugs of juicy bitterness with whisps of funkiness. I’d like to get hold of another one, as this was a bit sharp edged on the hop front to see how it softens up, but mostly an excellent beer.
