Has been packaged as Aspall Dry Suffolk Cider and as Dry English Draft Cider for export.

The first cyder produced by Barry and Henry Chevallier Guild when they joined the business - seven years in creation - and still their favourite drink.

Full dry with a sophisticated and elegant floral aroma that captures the essence of an orchard.

2008 bottle with probably 4-6 months of age on it. The bottle is identical to the label pictured here however, the box has Premier Cru on it, so I’m not sure that the two arent one and the same. Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised with this one, despite the obvious filtration and forced carbonation, it’s not overly fizzy (given some breathing) and has plentiful wild yeast character. The finish even ends with a nicely tart acidity that removes all the sweetness from the mouth. The aroma has notes of chardonnay and peaches, though white grape juice prevails lightly on the finish. Bits of doughiness and hay mark the opening flavor profile, which grows quite acidic as I mentioned, leading to a unripened nectarine/apricot fruitiness and vibrant green apple crispness. No alcohol noted. Very light in color. Clear. Moderately watery mouthfeel as the carbonation recedes.

Bottle sample from notes. Pours a clear bright yellow gold color with no head. The aroma and flavor have pretty much what I was expecting; sweet apple cider, mild tang, this one is more dry than normal I guess, but .... I’m just not interested in these unless there is something special (but if free I won’t turn them down.

bottle, on the sweeter side, tons of apple flavors, not dry at all, nothing really primier or cry about this either. OH WELL.

Fine one with green apples in taste and aroma. Some sweetish moments which pep that one a bit up. Deep body, long lasting taste and pleasing aftertaste with a fine balanced sweetsour finish.

Bottle at home. Very pale green / yellow/ petroleum coloured pour with a fleeting white effervescent head. Aroma is semi-sharp, some candy, some floral notes and bile. Some sharp lemon citrus in the nose as well. Flavour is sweet sharp fruit, apple, touch of sharpness. Palate is quite fizzy, semi-sweet, semi-crisp finish. Decent cider. Quite clean, maybe a little too clean for me.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours pale yellow, no head. Aromas of... well... cider apples, perhaps get a hint of the champagne they are on about in the blurb, in a light, yeasty way. Taste is dry, tart but not sour. Slightly chewy on the finish.

On tap as English Dry Draft Cider. Aroma is crisp granny smith apple and light biscuit. Pours clear blonde with good fizzy and no head. Taste is light apple, crisp biscuit, and a light malt finish. Clean and dry mouthfeel. A pleasure.

Bottle. Pours a medium gold with a slight, white, quick-fading head. Nose has almost no apple to it; there’s rubber, latex, and medicinal notes. Rich and mellow on the tongue, with a small amount of residual sweetness. It has a nice buttery roundness to it that sticks around through the soft finish. Quite good, once one gets past the nose.
