2008 bottle with probably 4-6 months of age on it. The bottle is identical to the label pictured here however, the box has Premier Cru on it, so I’m not sure that the two arent one and the same. Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised with this one, despite the obvious filtration and forced carbonation, it’s not overly fizzy (given some breathing) and has plentiful wild yeast character. The finish even ends with a nicely tart acidity that removes all the sweetness from the mouth. The aroma has notes of chardonnay and peaches, though white grape juice prevails lightly on the finish. Bits of doughiness and hay mark the opening flavor profile, which grows quite acidic as I mentioned, leading to a unripened nectarine/apricot fruitiness and vibrant green apple crispness. No alcohol noted. Very light in color. Clear. Moderately watery mouthfeel as the carbonation recedes.

Bottle from the Bedford Arms, Bedford. Gold, clear, and very carbonated. Light orchard fruit smell, somewhat musty. Bittersweet taste, a bit of tangy apple but fairly underwhelming. Well carbonated. Not all that, a waste of a strong ABV.

Bottle from Waitress. Pours a clear light golden yellow with a small -ff-white head. The smell is apple, hint of vinegar, a bit earthy. The taste is dry from the start, crisp apples, hint of apple vinegar ending still dry. Light+ in body with fairly active carbonation. Not bad.

It is the first cyder that again. Accustomed to beer, I have found little depth, too little complexity and smoothness

Champagne coloured. Aroma is quite floral with some tart apple. Flavour has mildly sweet apple and a touch of pear. Mildly sweet and mildly tart. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2015 11.2 oz. bottle labeled "Aspall Dry English CIder" from Louisville Beer Store. Shared with my Boo. Aroma: As you’d guess, it’s a quite dry variety of apple- mostly pear-like and gently floral; juice is semi-dry. Appearance: Pale straw color with a fizzy white head that fades away completely. Streams of carbonation nonetheless. Flavor: Juicy up front and pleasantly semi-sweet; more floral and slightly spicy towards the finish, which is dry. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, astringent finish. Overall: A very nice cider; would be an able replacement for champagne.
