Nitro tap at the Aspen Tap Room in downtown Aspen. A great looking brew with a finger and half of tan cream colored head on a pitch black body. The aroma is a faint roasted malt. The taste is all bitter/sweet with a dose of roasted malt. Great balance. Smooth and creamy texture. Low carbonation and heavy body. A really enjoyable beer; just a little more on the nose would make it really great.

Shaker pint draft at the Brewery tap room in Aspen, Colorado. The pour is a hazed brown with a 1/2 inch light khaki head. The aroma is roast, dark chocolate, and a bit of char. The taste leads with the char mineral, along with pine hop and finishing with slight bitter dark chocolate. The finish shows some chalk in addition to the mineral. The palate is medium bodied with a dry finish. Solid porter.

Draught at brewery. Black with egg white head (on nitro). Aroma of roasted malts, notes of light coffee and faint caramel. Taste of burnt chocolate and light coffee. A fairly rich porter but also pretty smooth (the nitro certainly helped).

Draught. Pours black with an average, creamy, dark brown head, somewhat diminishing with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (molasses, coffee, toast), light hops (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of tar, smoke, peat, and licorice. Medium bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
