3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle share at Hampton Inn pre-DLD party. Pour is dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma and flavor are both of roasted nuts, chocolate, smoke, and peat. Some slight molasses sweetness in the finish. Quite thin for the ABV and style.

Almost black pour. Small off-white head. Little lacing. Malty oat aroma. Slight chocolate. Silky smooth chocolate taste. Good.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap and 22oz bottle -
A definite swing and a miss. Chocolate, coffee...kinda acidic too. Ashy and scorched chocolate tasting, some metallic notes along with some wet dirt. Strange beer. Seemed a little off.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 4/20
Yes it is a little thin to be a stout. With that said I would define this as a brown ale. Does open up as it comes up to room temperature, with a nice feel of a dark chocolate. I would buy this again.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours dark with a light brown head. Semi-bitter chocolate aroma. One review referred to the taste as "ashy", and that seems to fit. Aftertaste keeps that ashiness going.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
This does not have the taste or mouthfeel of a stout. It’s not a bad brown ale, particularly after it warms up a bit. Aroma is mild and acidic with some toasted malt. Taste is similar but with a better more complex combination of toasted chocolate notes. Thin mouth feel much more fitting of an American brown.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark brown pour, brown head. Dry and roasty, some astringent notes, bitter cocoa nibs, ashy and not really something I would drink again. Thin and underwhelming.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
651 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, thick, well retained, light beige head, over a clear, dark brown (SRM 35) body....nose is chocolate, cocoa, hints of coffee from the roasted malts, minimal herbs from the hops, no hints of esters......taste is heavy coffee, lighter chocolate from the heavily roasted malts, some hints of sweetness from the less roasted malts mild herbal hop bitterness, finishing with a combination of roasted malt and hop bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, alcohol hidden, carbonation makes a creamy texture. This is a very simple, much too light Sweet Stout. The oatmeal has been used with a light hand resulting in a watery mouth feel, where a creamy texture would be welcome. The malt bill could use more crystal/caramel malt to bring in more sweetness and complexity. BJCP 6/3/10/4/6

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Pours a black color with small beige head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Roasty flavor with a bit of chocolate in the finish. Not quite as bold or full-bodied as I expected. I enjoyed this.
