Ass Kisser Ale is a state of mind! Just as you contemplate the flavors of this fine ale you can contemplate sharing a bottle with a friend or your boss. Maybe they are one in the same. And then again maybe not! We are just sayin!

Ass Kisser Double IPA is a rich malty ale that has warm carmel notes that open up as it warms up to your glass. It pairs with foods with spice and aromas like Asian 5 Spice or curries. To get maximum aroma and flavor, pour this ale into a snifter style glass. This ale is made to take off the edge of a long day! Made from caring hands that understand what it takes to have to kiss a little to get anywhere these days.

Formerly at 9.2% when brewed at Rahr.

Bottle. Dark fruit aroma. Murky orange. Thin head. Good hop flavor. At 7.7%, one of the lowest alcohol double IPAs I’ve had and that lower alcohol is evident. Really odd that the ratebeer ratings are so poor while the current issue if Draft magazine has it at a rating of 95. The fact that is really an IPA hurts it as a DIPA, but the rating of 95 is far more accurate than the Ratebeer rating.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy Medium-dark amber with a good 1" white head, isolated bands of lace. This is hurt by an odd aroma - smells a lot like the mud I use to do wall joints; not bad, just not beer. Taste is an inoffensive caramel malt, with just enough bitters to balance. Dunno where the double IPA part comes from. Really quite drinkable if there is no reference as to what to expect. Hides the alcohol very well.

Pours a deep burnished copper. Lively head, gently dissipating. Nose is sweet, with notes of caramel and roasted malt, as well as citrus. Rich mouth feel, starts slightly sweet, but fades to a hoppy dryness. Some mild astringency. Some alcohol burn evident. Overall, a decent double IPA. I might not have discovered this brew, but it was on sale at my Naples, FL. ABC store for $1.99/4 pack! Gotta love a deal like that. Sadly, it appears that the brewery is no more and they’re clearing inventory.

12oz bottle into a rising tide stemmed snifter. Pours a dark hazy orange ready to turn brown any time now, very autumn like. Head is large, frothy, full and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is skunky malts, old bottle maybe? hop presence is not really noticable, a malt heavy dipa. Murky and questionable citrus tone hover over, as does a gross spoiled fruit essence. Not cool. There is some sweet candied orange that shines though the mess though, thats nice. Taste is funky orange, malt dominates rather than a hop, orange juice, plain melon, sugar, caramel malts, tasty but not dipa tasty. Abv, although high, doesnt prominately add pleasure to this beer. Cool bottle, but maybe a strong ale label would suite this one better.

The real reason I come back to this beer is because of an intangible craving for the hop varieties used. Damn I love that. Doing research on what hops they use here. Unusual and damn tasty!

Pretty rustic orange pour w/ a big white head that leaves great lacing. The aroma is primarily of floral hops. The mouthfeel is exceptionally smooth for a double ipa. The taste is of wet hops & doesn’t leave or have much bitterness at all. Kind of a sessionable double which I’m not sure is a good thing but a decent beer nevertheless overall.

Pours slightly hazy marmalade colour with thin white head. Nice resinous aroma of pine and grapefruit. Oily but crisp body. Assertive bitter taste with slight alcohol warmth. Nice IPA, but not really unique in any way.

22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy dark yellow / orange color with small rocky cream-colored head. Aroma is hoppy and mostly resinous. Sweeter than expected for a double IPA, hoppy but not palate-shattering. Long bitter finish. This is okay, but nothing special. Not bad if you can get it cheap.

1/2/2012. 22 oz. bottle. Dark amber color with a white head. Aromas of caramel, spice, pine and malt. Flavors of caramel, butter, pine with hops on the finish. Seem a little off.
