The Ass Kisser Porter Pounder is a dark, rich balanced ale that is smooth and yet structured with light coffee and mocha aromas. The subtle smoky aroma lures your palate to sip through the dark tan head. Enjoy with grilled and spiced foods. Formerly brewed at Rahr (at 8.03%).

Pours dark brown with red hue, sustaining tan froth. Aroma of light cocoa, subtle smoke. Medium bodied and smooth. This porter is well rounded with notes of chocolate, nuanced smoke, and light bitterness. I liked it alot.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark, soda colored brown with a one-finger light tan head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma is smoke, roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is smoky roasted malts with chocolate, coffee, and even a bit a caramel. Very well balanced! All flavors blend together perfectly with nothing overwhelming the palate. No way I would have thought this was 8%, as the alcohol is completely hidden. A bit thin on the palate, but still manages to have a medium body and creamy texture with active carbonation. Finish is a bit quick, but the hop bitterness comes through with a nice malty taste in the aftertaste. Very nice overall! The subdued smokey aroma and taste make it much easier to drink than pretty much any other smoked beer I remember having.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with two fingers of fine tan head. Good retention and some thin lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, dark malt, chocolate malt, caramel, smoky. Flavor is sweet and smoky up front. Fades into mild roasted malt, caramel, slightly nutty, with a mildly bitter finish. Soft carbonation, medium to heavy body, and a smooth texture. Does an impressive job masking the alcohol. I like the subtlety of the smokiness. A very good brew.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a tan head that settled to a ring and left light lace. Aroma of chocolate and light smoke. The flavor found sweet malt with a smoked backing. Medium body and roasted aftertaste and light smoke.

Bottle. Drank at room temperature. Dark pour. Tan head. Aroma of smoke and cocoa. Flavor is light. There’s some nice smokiness, a little caramel, and of course roasted malts. Nice smokey aftertaste. Does not taste like an 8% beer. Tastes more like a 5%. Lighter body. Very easy to drink.

12 ounce bottle. This was a mighty fine smoked porter. Brown-black appearance, much darker than usual for a porter, brown foam on top; aroma was unsweetened chocolate on a bonfire; taste was chocolate, nuts, oak and smokey bacon; palate was thick side of medium. Overall, I really liked the smoke flavor balanced with the traditional porter flavor profile. Despite the gimmicky name of the brewery, this one has me intrigued about the rest of their collection.

Dark brown pour with some ruby highlights and a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt and coffee. Medium body with a smokey character and notes of sweet malt, hops and chocolate. The finish is subtly smoked with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle. Clear dark brown with a frothy, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, smoke, caramel and coffee. Flavor is more chocolate and coffee with light smoke in the background and no alcohol taste. Medium to full body with a soft mouth feel. Solid smoked porter, the smoke is mild but it’s there.

This wasn’t as good as its rating. It pours o.k., dark brown and largely opaque, but the smoked qualities were thin and the best parts of a porter--chocolate, roast, etc. were pale reflections beneath a basically simple deep caramel maltiness. Tame porter, tame smoke. No wonder it was discounted from $8.99 to $2.99. Bottle.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a strongly carbonated opaque, except at the edges, colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma was mild with malt notes. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a biting roasted hoppy aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of smoky roasted malt coffee and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.
