Pour like cola with a frothy head. Cocoa like aroma. Flavor is chocolate and a pretty high amount of greasy bacon smokiness. Still, more chocolatey than smokey. Not terrible.

Bottle; poured a dark, cola brown with a small off white head. Aroma of smoked malt, leather, meat, and bean and bacon soup. Definitely an acquired taste; would have never liked this a year ago. For the amount of smoky flavor, it is pretty easy drinking. Some sweetness and meat, but not the most complex version of the style

12 ounce bottle - $3.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Trots out a very dark brown body with a medium-sized, slowly collapsing, beige head. A few strays dots of lacing here and there.

Smell: Moderately roasty-scented malts with touches of coffee, slight earthy nuttiness, subdued smoke, raisins, and a little dog drool.

Taste: A malty mixture of roasted nuts, cola, mild coffee, a little chocolate powder, and even some sweet toffee. There’s smoke here, but it’s kinda subtle and well-balanced amongst the other components. Eventually, even a bit of hop character and bitterness pops in for a visit. Malty, scantly smoky finish with all of those earlier malt hints coming around again, but none of them overshadowing the next.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It’s not great, but it’s pretty good and I liked it more than I had anticipated I would.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Smoky chocolate aromas. Thin with milk and dark chocolate, espresso and caramel front to back. Lasting smoked chocolate finish.

9-Aug-12, Big sweet roast bacon malt aroma. Black colour, ordinary head and sheet lacing. Big smoked malt bacon and some choc spice flavour. Bitter roast finish and a bit thin, slight tart roast smoked aftertaste.

Bottled. Poured deep brown with a well-retained, dense beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter, smoked black malts with accents of vanilla and charred roast.. came across a little hot. The flavor found charred, smoked black malts and roasted coffee bitterness, with peppery alcohol and mild-moderate astringency around.. finished sharp, bitter, and boozy. Medium-bodied with very high roast on the palate.. decent feel, but not the easiest or most enjoyable drinker.

Pours a dark leathery brown. Slight smoke aroma followed by some woody oak. Dry on the palate with some s smokey roasted malt and some coffee notes. Overall, a fairly decent brew, good tasting with restrained smoke notes unlike some smoked beers that can be overpowering.

Fairly modest dark brown pour, with minimal carbonation and a weak look to it. Nose of mild smoke, dark chocolate, and tart fruit, maybe rotting prunes. Uh oh. Body is thin, with perhaps even a touch of acidity. Taste of meat, carbon, and mild infection.
