3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PorterPounder (4101) - Tallahassee, USA - JAN 14, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 15, 2012 Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Bevarage Warehouse - 12 oz bottle. Medium hgold pour, white bubbly head. Aroma has some vanilla and marshmallow accents. Flavor is smooth and clean with some vanilla notes which are slightly artificial and just a hint of butter. Not much else going on with this one. Vanilla accents could find themselves getting quite cloying in a bomber, fortunately this was only a 12 oz bottle. Mouthfeel was thick enougn.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 esjaygee (2583) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Clear light amber with a moderately fading airy off-white topper. Aroma of skunked malts, vanilla and graham. Taste is meh with vanilla and malts and a vanilla aftertaste. The snookered me in by putting pale ale on the label, but this was pretty bad. Kiss my ass!
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BVery (2536) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - MAY 18, 2012
Bottle. Golden pour with minimal head. Nose is vanilla, bread, and caramel - but light. Lighter palate. Taste is about the same as the aroma - vanilla is nicely done.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 ben4321 (2212) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 5/17/12
Aroma: The nose is fairly faint, but the best way to describe it is that it smells a bit like a nilla wafer
Appearance: Pours a clear orange color with a small, fizzy white head
Flavor: The taste is kind of dull too, similar to the nose, and light malty sweetness
Palate: The body is light, it it is pretty watery, with a lively carbonation
Overall Impression:
I wasn’t particularly impressed. Everything about this one is somewhere between subtle and boring depending on how "generous" you are feeling.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jkwood04 (1398) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 13, 2012
12oz bottle. Aroma of vanilla, plus the caramel malts and lightly citrusy hops of a pale ale. The vanilla is a little weird but it isn’t that bad with this style. Average texture. Decent.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DasBierChef (944) - Lucan, Minnesota, USA - APR 29, 2012
The vanilla is well done in this, just the right amount. but the rest is very mediocre.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 drjay44 (1730) - Salida, Colorado, USA - APR 28, 2012
12 oz. bottle.Per the label, brewed and bottled at Ass Kisser Beverage Co. San Jose CA. Pours a thin, short lived head, over a slightly hazy, dark gold (SRM 6) body....nose is vanilla with hints of cereal....taste is vanilla, leading to light malts with toast, biscuit tones, finishing with a light bitterness attended by vanilla.....mouth feel light, carbonation high adding a soda quality. This is overly dominated by the vanilla, which masks everything other quality that this beer may have. It is almost a vanilla cream soda in quality. BJCP 5/3/8/4/5
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Scipio (177) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2012
Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a very thin head. Looks very much like a white ale. Aroma is overpowering in vanilla. Whether you like or dislike vanilla depends on your rating. I love it. Unfortunately, the taste is much weaker than the aroma. It does have a some citrus and acidic flavors though. Overall, it is decent, not great, but nearly as underwhelming as I was led to believe.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 hawthorne00 (1433) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 6, 2012
Bottle. Cloudy gold with a modest off white head. Aroma of vanilla and malt extract. Tastes like diluted vanilla malted milkshake syrup with some floral hops. Finish is surprisingly dry and quite clean, but what comes before is well-enough made, but a bad idea.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tgonline (2) - Colorado, USA - APR 3, 2012 does not count
Definitely a unique style. Used to more porters with the use of vanilla. The Vanilla tames the Pale ale aspect and creates a cream soda aspect to the beer. The definitely achieve something different, try with asian food and maybe slightly sweet chicken or fish
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 unclemattie (3347) - Georgia, USA - MAR 27, 2012
12oz bottle, yellow label, yellow cap. Pours golden orange color, white head. Aroma of sweet tea. Unique flavor. Tastes like a lager blended with Sweet Tea. Soft vanilla character with pale malts and hops, it finishes weird. Don’t really know how this is. I’d rather the Pizza Beer than the Cream Soda Beer. (3287)
