3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, California, USA - AUG 12, 2008
21-Mar-08 (330-ml bottle, Best before 22-Aug-06: Purchased 09-Feb-08 at Ledger’s Liquors in Berkeley, CA) Okay, so I didn’t see the expiration date when I bought this bottle, but while there is a modest cardboard flavor in the finish, the beer is actually fairly malty and enjoyable. It has a fairly bready profile with some mild sweetness, a light spiciness and hint of hops. It really comes across like a Czech pilsener. The nose is very malty, again projecting the typical nose of bohemian pilseners. Medium-bodied, standard carbonation levels, enough spiciness to keep the palate refreshed, the beer has a nice overall mouthfeel. The beer is golden in color and slightly hazy. The rocky, off-white head builds to half an inch before settling to a wide ring. Retention is average, but lacing is minimally spotty. I doubt I’m reading the "best by" date incorrectly, but I suppose it’s possible. But for a lager beer that apparently expired 19 months ago, this is not only quite tasty, but downright enjoyable.

This is part of a beer club tasting. Only had one bottle but it was a decent taste for the price. Would like to try again after it poured great and left a nice after taste.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 bhensonb (7574) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 7, 2007
33 cL bottle. A fresh fruity aroma, like white grape! Amber tinged golden color. Fine, white head that persists. Thin to medium bodied. Moderately carbonated. Bit fizzy. The grape continues into the flavor. Finishes a bit dry, and a little metallic. A very different, but decent, lager. Beats Bud in so many, how do I count the, ways.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Ungstrup (23917) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 1, 2007
Can. An orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw and metal as well as a light perfumy note. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw and a light metal note, that grows in intensity towards the dry finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 PilsnerPeter (2959) - Flushing, New York, USA - JUN 18, 2007
Bottle: Thanks to JoeMcPhee for helping me find this beer. Pours golden with a slight haze and a thin white head. Sweet malt aroma. Some sweet esters and a hint of maize. Flavor is actually decent with a sweet doughy malt hint. Some sweet fruit esters of pear, followed by a flowery, mildly dry finish. I have to say this is impressive for a pale lager, enjoyable.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 gnoff (5001) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 30, 2007

Pour is a golden with a white foamy head. Aroma is a bit malty but is also kinda metalic. Flavor is very clean tasting and light with some malts and a bit o hop. Nothing really to recomned it other than this is better than most eastern euro lagers.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 KnutAlbert (4587) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 14, 2007
50 cl can brought home from Bulgaria. A rather decent lager, more "Lux" than most Bulgarian beers. Watery, some sweet malt, but there are actually some decent hoppiness in the finish.
