3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brewchacho4 (71) - Vancouver, WA, Washington, USA - JUN 5, 2012 On tap at The Horse Brass Pub. Served in a 5 oz. taster. Appearance is dark amber, extremely hazy, with a thin, quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is sweet, hoppy, & subtle. Doesn’t really explode with aroma. Flavor is bitter upfront, with a sweet mid-palate; bitter, resiny aftertaste in the finish.
Mouthfeel is smooth, silky, easy to drink. Overall: not my cup of tea.

Deep amber pour. The aroma is intensely hoppy. Fresh pine resin and spruce. Aggressive resinous bitterness. Enamel-peeling really. A little bit of fruit and a lot of bitterness. Pretty solid IIPA

Draft. Perfect name for this beer. Yeah it’s bitter....and it’s rough and rude like a bitch.Overall this is a tasty beer but probably could really excel with some refinement. Nice work Astoria.

Growler from the brewpub. Outstanding Imperial India Pale Ale. Dry and bitter. Crisp with a bite from start to finish. Citrus grapefruit, caramel and pine flavors. Strong hops throughout. Long bitter finish, a bit harsh with a touch of an alcohol burn. Tasty!

Draught@Wet Dog Cafe, Astoria
Hazy deep amber color, decent beige head, lace. Fruity, resiny hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied. Starts quite salty, woody, piney flavors, good bitterness, lingering licorice in the aftertaste. Quite good drinkability compared to IBUs and ABV. Good solid, "salty" DIPA. Piney flavor stays in your mouth for ages.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 savnac (2126) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUN 25, 2011
On tap @ Astoria Brewing Co. Golden amber in color with a small off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, alcohol and a light soapiness. Flavor is very bitter and a bit harsh, there is a bit of caramel malt but the bitterness is definitely the main focus, some alcohol heat as well. Medium body with average carbonation and a tongue numbing mouth feel. This is a palate wrecker of a beer, so strong, bitter and harsh.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aubrey (3347) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - MAY 19, 2011
Upon my first sip, I knew this beer meant business. Surprisingly bold ... and a little rough around the edges, albeit kind of tasty. Rich caramel and toffee. Slight acidic burn on the gums. Hops made me think of flower soup. Bitter bite in the finish and aftertaste. Good beer, overall, but I found it to be a little harsh and abrasive in some ways.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy light amber pour. Huge pungent, citrus hop nose. Taste is smooth crisp malt with a huge citrus hop bitterness. Good bitterness on the finish, nice brew.
