3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 29, 2011
Originally rated April 2007. Just in at the LCBO, this beer mixed with Pineau des Charentes. As much as I like all type of alcohol, dessert wines are not in my tops. Still, I think this is a great idea (made in Cognac, France). Colour is golden clear with some rust in it. Very carbonated and head is creamy, huge, with good retention leaving wavy lacing. The nose is bready with a slight touch of perfume. Very smooth mouthfeel with just a pinch of stick to it. Sweet taste, but not as sweet as I thought this would be. Sweeter on the lips, than in the flavours. Some mild bread, honey and grains. Not much aftertaste, disappearing quickly. Overall, pretty interesting and worth trying for sure.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ontbeermaker (1261) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 6, 2011
Bottle, this one grew on me as I drank it more but I didnt like it at the beginning, Overall it wasnt bad, it had a strange after taste, it was kind of like blueberrys or some sort of berry, the beer was a golden colour, with a lager like taste with the berry backround
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 JRock72 (788) - - JUN 5, 2011
Bottle. Poured hazy light brown with thick head. Very harsh aroma. Flavour is kind of sweet with a hint of dark fruits. Finishes sweet.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 grandgenie (259) - gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 12, 2009
Dégusté avec french tickler le 4 mai 2007.
Clear golden poor with lots of effervescence and a thin foamy beige head. Aromas of cask, caramelised malts, the sweetness from the pineau des charentes and a slight twist of ginger. Way to sweet, very syrupy... almost artificial... 99% sweet, 1% other... serious lack of balance in this beer. Very soggy tasting and fad.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Lubiere (6707) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2008
Golden ale with a thick white head. Lightlysweet caramel aroma, notes of oxidation and apple puree. In mouth, a sweetish corn adjunct malt with apple juice, cloying sweetness in beginning. Light bodied. Bottle from LCBO about 1 yr old.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 DerWeg (1251) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 28, 2008
33 c; bottle. LCBO. Soft golden bubbly stuff with kind of a nondescript sweet taste. Light and juice-like flavors emerge. Aroma some slightly metallic hops. Overall decent but no biggie.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Storm (2685) - Amager, DENMARK - FEB 5, 2008
33 cl. Bottle. Clear golden colour with a weak head. Malty aroma with notes of grain and maize. Very sweet flavour with fruitness and again sweet malty. Ends up sweet.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 nigos (623) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2008
Light golden, almost chardonnay like hue, with a white foamy head. Light pinapple aroma. Sugary pinappley taste. A bit thin really with nothing much else to note. Completely forgetable.
