Golden in colour, long lasting creamy white coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is quite sweet, some corn, metal and alcohol. The flavour is very sweet, lots of sugar, minor alcohol, caramel, becoming cloying. Creamy mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes sweet, lingering. Not the most interesting that’s for sure, the sweetness seems to dominate.

330ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario for $3.45.
Purchased on April 18, 2007 and opened on April 19, 2007.
No best before date.

Bouteille 330ml.

Bottle. Clear medium amber orange color with a small fizzy fair lacing mostly lasting white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, fruity / wine, moderate yeasty, toffee, sugar, notes of caramel. Flavor is heavy sweet, (to much for me) with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture oily / syrupy, carbonation is soft to flat.

[299-20070508] 330mL (w/ jerc). Very watery, some yeast and plastic aromatic notes and something that smells like chocolate from a wine barrel. Clear, orange yellow body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Fruity fullness has light plastic flavour. Medium body. Strangely coordinated flavour considering the unpleasant aroma.

Bottle. Sweet, malty nose. Light amber color, very carbonated and generous wheat colored head which dissipated evenly. Very sweet upon first sip which gradually fades and reveals its stronger character. The Pineau des Charentes & Cognac are very well balanced with the beer leaving a lasting, overall pleasant taste in the mouth. Palate is warming, very much like a cognac or spirit, which I beleive, is what the artisans were after. Like most on this site, I have to confess this is good but not something I’ll get regularly.

330 bottle from LCBO Very pretty pour...brilliant gold, lively carbonation, and a strong head. Smells boozy, the cognac is detectable. Taste...sweet on the tip of the tongue, but nicely rounded in the back. Some slight amber characterstics, nice use of malt. Hops are there, but the cognac almost negates them. A well-made beer, certainly interesting, but nothing I’ll seek again.

330ml, 5.3% a/v Nice gold colour with a dense white head. Smells of booze, sweetness and a bit of hops. The taste is fruity and unusual. The palate is a cloying sickly sweet taste, too much for my enjoyment. Interesting beer becasue of the addition of cognac, but not altogether a great beer
