Brown bottle, savoured on May 24 2007; eye: golden, clear, light effervescence, creamy white head that leaves a carpet on the beer, a bit of lacing; nose: sweet, pineau des Charentes, grainy malt, maple sugar; mouth: sugar assault, maple sugar, pineau des Charentes, long sweet finale where the pineau des Charentes is quite present, creamy texture, quite sweet, medium body, not much carbonation; overall: another of those beers (Grand Marnier, cognac, etc.) that does not deliver FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, savourée le 24 mai 2007; œil : dorée, claire, légère effervescence, mousse blanche crémeuse qui laisse un petit tapis sur la bière, un peu de dentelle; nez : sucrée et toquant, pineau des Charentes, malt granuleux, sirop d’érable; bouche : assaut de sucre, sirop d’érable, pineau des Charentes, longue finale sucrée où le pineau des Charentes est très présent, texture crémeuse, pas mal sucrée, corps moyen, peu carbonatée; en résumé : une autre de ces bières (Grand Marnier, cognac, etc.) qui ne livre pas la marchandise

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color ale with a nice big bubbly head with limited retention. Aroma is very sweet and almost disgustingly so. Taste is quite sweet with some Pineau characteristics. Interesting mix but I think I will keep on drinking my beer without Pineau and my Pineau without beer.

Bottle from LCBO. Yellow body with a billowy white head. (3+) Brief note of Cinnabon upon first opening the bottle. Yeasty lager aroma with light fruity character, hint of spice. Light herbal spice in a very fruity flavour, light grainy malt. Average palate is on the creamy side. A strange... something in the flavour like a wacky liqueur or foreign candy. A lot better than I expected but I can not really see drinking more than one. Interesting.

Bottle (LCBO)
Pours golden clear with plenty of carbonation. Even gently pour create large massive head that leaves decent lacing behind. 3,5/5
Fresh mineral accented, sweet grainy with light hint of vanilla. Over green grapes and some hops.
Medium bodied with oily texture. Slightly sour, acidic middle. Light vanilla flavour sweetened with malt. Lacking crispness. Crudely summarizing oily lager with grape juice that could be decent niche product.

Bottle: Wow, lots of low reviews. Pours pumpkin coloured, good sized white foamy head. Mine appeared flat as the farmer’s daughter, not streaming with bubbles like some of these folks below me. Aroma is sweet and grassy, an odd combination, and now I really have no idea what I’m in to. The good - it’s light, great mouthfeel, almost creamy in texture, very easy to drink. The bad - it’s very, very sweet. Syrupy sweet. You can definitely pull the grape flavour out, I noticed a bit of raisin and hints of orange to my palate. I liked it better than I expected, hence the higher rating I suppose.

Clear golden poor with lots of effervescence and a thin foamy beige head. Aromas of cask, caramelised malts, the sweetness from the pineau des charentes and a slight twist of ginger. Way to sweet, very syrupy... almost artificial... 99% sweet, 1% other... serious lack of balance in this beer. Very soggy tasting and fad.
