Commercial Description:
A light fruit ale, made with Maine wild blueberries. As opposed to many of the sweeter fruit beers on the market, our addition of fresh Maine wild blueberries in this light ale yields a subtle blueberry aroma, without the sweet aftertaste. A mixture of the following Mutton malts, pale, crystal, and Munich, are combined with wheat to give this ale its lighter body, and we only use minimal amounts of Target and Willamette hops.

From old notes. Bottle, May 2005. Granted, I was on my honeymoon, so everything tasted great. Brought a bottle back from Maine to savor later, and had the same experience again, so it must have been quality. Marked as the best blueberry ale I’ve had. Not too over-the-top fruity, not too sweet. Very well balanced, with a wheaty twist.

Pours a perfect amber, 1 inch head, goes to nothing fast enough. Lottle of bubbling. Blueberry aroma. Tastes like blueberry pancakes in the morning. What a stupendousbeer for breakfast. A wonderous substitute. Flavor is a little sweet (artificially?). Flat slightly bready finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of KAggie97. Slightly hazy deep golden with an off-white head. Somewhat chemical fruit aroma. Medium body with sweet, berry-like fruit accents and a somewhat astringent, chemical finish. 160408

Nothing special. First aroma is good. I just tast like plain ole beer though. Go else where for good beer

Enjoyed several of these with a friend in Cleveland. Not a bad brew, especially given I don’t generally care for the style. Looks like a basic hoppy amber beer, and it’s got quaffability in that area for sure. But the blueberry is hard to miss, in the nose and in the taste. Thankfully, it’s somewhat subtle. Good to knock back but nothing that lingers in the memory.

12oz bottle, notched Best enjoyed before: February ’08. Clear auburn with a 1/2 finger light beige head that slowly faded to a ring and thin film after a minute. Aroma of blueberry pancakes, but not quite as sweet as them. Flavor added a bit of a citric tang and caramel malt notes. Semi dry finish with bitterness peaking at a 2. Moderate prickly carbonation with a medium body. A fairly simple beer with no glaring faults. Dark Horse Tres kicks this one in the butt.
