carlb (36), East Lansing, Michigan, USA Aug 8, 2006 Nice head when poured, wonderful bluebery nose, but is it real? The blueberry notes were hard to find on thepalate. Short - no lingering malt flavor of which to speak. I will not repurchase. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Aug 3, 2006 Updated: Jan 20, 2007Not a bad fruit beer - though I am partial (I typically dislike fruit beers unless they are peach or blueberry). The aroma is mostly dominated by the blueberry. The flavor is less so dominated - there is some beer/malt flavor in there which balances the sweetness with slightest hint of bitterness. Combining the sweet malt flavor with the blueberry almost resembles the taste of a breakfast muffin. POD (198), USA Aug 3, 2006 Even though I’m not a fruit beer fan, I hoped to find my thrill on this Blueberry Swill. My critique can best be described in song... Feel free to sing along to the tune of Blueberry Hill by Fats Domino:
(Piano Intro)
Would I find my thrill on Blueberry Swill?
This Blueberry Swill where I found you -
High on the shelf was Blueberry Swill,
It caught my eye, now would my dreams come true?
The wind in the willow played... the
Aroma’s sweet melody.
But all of those smells it charmed...
Were never to be!
Tho’ the look was not dark, it was pleasing to me still.
For I always knew that I’d drink this Blueberry Swill.
As I drew my first taste,
The mouthfeel was sweet.
But all of those vows I made
Were never to be...
The taste was tart, it was not much of a thrill...
I failed to thrilled by this Blueberry Swill.

Seriously folks. This ale from a 12 oz bottle wasn’t too bad. The Blueberry flavor is slight and tastes exactly like an Atkins Advantage Blueberry candy bar. If you like that flavor of Blueberry, then you’ll like it. If you perfer the sweetness of say, Boo Berry cereal - I suggest that you pass on the experience. Good luck and Cheers! MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Jul 15, 2006 from the cloverleaf, caldwell NJ. not sure if on tap or bottle. dark amber color, mostly clear. medium tan head. aroma is under-ripe blueberries, metallic and vegetal. flavor is like vitamins, some pale malts, and blueberry - but stems and leaves thrown in too. blueberry beers are so tough to do well! wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 14, 2006 deep amber with an off white head. aroma sweet blueberries and some caramel and hay. flavor disappoints a bit. it tastes like a sweet amber ale with a weird hint of blueberries. light to medium body. finish is fairly weak. the aroma was nice but it just went downhill from there. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2006 Bottle.
Very sweet smell, faint blueberry aroma as it’s poured, very faint. A pale ale look with generous head and some activity happening, looks great. Taste at first is a bit sweet but as it warms it becomes very smooth and well balanced ale. The blueberries are not strong and only appear near the end of each sip. Good fruit ale. Cheers! moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2006 "A great aroma off the bat, but followed up by a weak flavor and mouthfeel. The taste of blueberries is definitely in there, but this was a dissapointing experience overall. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2006 Unlike many fruit infused beers that fail where they should succeed this one does not. The aroma has blueberries, malt, bread, yeast, and some vegetable smells. The appearance is amber with a smaller sized head. The flavor is sweet malt and fruit with blueberries dominating the taste. There is a bitterness that is light and most obvious in the finish. The palate is thin and suitable for a hot weather beer. My advice is to try it.
