tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 22, 2006 Medium amber color - thin head - aroma of blueberry, molasses and grain. Blueberry is not strong at all - kind of hides begind the earthy malts - more like a grainy brown ale. Finish is dry and a bit yeasty. Body is thin. MrBunn (1523), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 21, 2006 Copperish color with a minimal head that (unless my eyes are playing tricks) has a slightly blue coloration. Aroma is overwhelmingly of blueberries... but almost an artificial blueberry smell. Flavor is a bit watery/weak on the backside, but the blueberry flavor adds nicely to the mix of hops and malt. Could be a bit fuller, but still develops nicely and is blended well. DrinkAle (4), USA does not count Jun 21, 2006 I first had this brew on tap at the Lampoc BP in Bar Harbor. Recently, I found it in the bottle. Of course, the fresh brew was much better, but still the bottle version retains much of the aroma and flavour. A nice fruit beer. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Jun 20, 2006 Not being much a fruit beer guy, I was pleasantly surprised by this summery entry. Many fruit beers lack any kind of beer quality. not so with Atlantic brewing’s blueberry ale. A solid underpinning of pale malts and a slightly bitter hop bite mix elegantly with the muted blueberry overtone. Never overly sweet or cloying, this beer also looks nice. Deep amber with a solid retentive tan head, the fruit is present mostly in the aroma, and pleasantly at the end of the swallow. murawski (158), USA Jun 19, 2006 I am normally averse to any beers with fruit, but I definitely have a weak spot for blueberry ales. This one is pretty decent. Very subtle blueberry undertones in the aroma and flavor, but nothing to distract from the malts and hops. Nice amber color, and a well-balanced flavor. Smooth palate makes this one an easy-drinking summer ale. I would recommend for any interested in experimenting with a blueberry ale, esp. on a hot summer day. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2006 Pours amber brown with a thin fading white head. Smells of sweet blueberry pie just as it should. The taste is bitter wheat with a slightly metallic finish. You can also taste the blueberries at the end but not all the time. eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2006 Well, this started out like a decent fruit beer. Poured a deep orange amber color with a very nice initial head that yielded decent lacing. The aroma was of blueberries, somewhat strong. Some sort of spicing going on. The flavor was blueberries, rather strong, on top of an amber ale type base with ginger and bandaid flavors. Bandaids like the Rogue Chipotle I had, ginger and blueberries JUST LIKE the Sweetwater Blue that I had not long ago. Mouthfeel was moderate to heavy for the style, didn’t find this as light as others did. Just didn’t come through in the flavor department. (Too much blueberries in there too, even if the ginger toned it down and the bandaids went away.) TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Jun 8, 2006 Pours light amber and slightly hazy with a fully receding tan head. Aroma of blueberries and not much each. It’s not the least bit faint to me, I could smell the blueberries when I opened the bottle. It actually smells like blueberry juice to be specific. Taste is blueberries with some other mild fruity flavors playing second fiddle. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very nice fruit beer.
