Commercial Description:
A light fruit ale, made with Maine wild blueberries. As opposed to many of the sweeter fruit beers on the market, our addition of fresh Maine wild blueberries in this light ale yields a subtle blueberry aroma, without the sweet aftertaste. A mixture of the following Mutton malts, pale, crystal, and Munich, are combined with wheat to give this ale its lighter body, and we only use minimal amounts of Target and Willamette hops.

My first rating of a fruit beer. You can smell the blueberries. They are not overpowering I just don’t expect the fruit taste when drinking beer.

Finally a blueberry beer that tastes like beer, not beer with blueberry syrup. I’m rating from memory, but...a very nice, not too sweet blueberry flavor, along with an excellent aroma. Maltiness can be a bit cloying after a few. Brings back wonderful memories of MDI.

Big Foamy Head that dissapates quite rapididly. Very nice dark amber color. Aroma is great, not overpowering blueberry smell, but you can still pick up the hints. Nice aftertaste of blueberries, but not overpowering or too sweet. A quite enjoyable beer.

Opening the bottle definitely makes the blueberry flavor obvious - the aroma is very good. Leaves a rather dry feeling in the mouth, with a bittersweet taste, much like fresh blueberries. All in all a very satisfactory drink. Not superb, but still very enjoyable.

Bottle: Big blueberry aroma with some breadiness that comes across almost like blueberry muffins, but a hint of grassiness really seems out of place. Pours a transparent dark amber with a small off-white head that fades quickly. Sweet blueberry up front fades to an somewhat tart blueberry finish. Again some grassy hops in the finish doesn’t mix well with the blueberries. I really like the blueberry qualities of the beer, but the grassiness really clashes with the blueberries and detracts from the beer overall.

Bottle. Poured an orange color with a fizzy off-white head that mostly dissipated. Blueberry smells jumped at the nose as soon as the cap came off. Hay and grass aroma were also present. Sweet blueberry flavors mixed with noticeable hops. Light body and smooth to go down. Interesting, blue berry pancakes in a bottle.

Bottle. Sweet blueberry muffin malt aroma. Reddish brown with next to no head. Lightly sweet with strong blueberry flavor and moderate malt. Gives you a strong blueberry flavor without being cloying. Quite nice for a fruit beer.
