Commercial Description:
A light fruit ale, made with Maine wild blueberries. As opposed to many of the sweeter fruit beers on the market, our addition of fresh Maine wild blueberries in this light ale yields a subtle blueberry aroma, without the sweet aftertaste. A mixture of the following Mutton malts, pale, crystal, and Munich, are combined with wheat to give this ale its lighter body, and we only use minimal amounts of Target and Willamette hops.

ABV: 5.5% RateBeer rating: 55 Calories: estimated at 150C Volume: 12 fl oz Glass: flute Purchased at: Trade with Sean P. (Thanks, Sean with apologies.) Price: Oskar Blues Old Chub Consumed at: home First Impression: I should start by saying that I don’t like blueberries, but I love most other fruits and berries. I’m a big fan of Belgian styles, and lambics, just not of blueberries. Color is nice, but aroma is off. Reminded of the experiments of Smuttynose Hanami Ale. Aroma is blunt and chemical. Visuals are a beautiful tea body with no head whatsoever. Taste is, in a word, bad. This is hard to finish, much less enjoy. Palate is crisp, dry and short lasting finish, thankfully. Overcarbonated. Second Impression: Very glad I did not buy this, but I’m pretty sure Sean was just clearing out his fridge with this one. It’s pretty, but there are much prettier beers that are simply fantastic to taste. Aroma: 4 out of 10 Visuals: 4 out of 5 Taste: 3 out of 10 Palate: 3 out of 5 Overall: 12 out of 20

Bottle: Copper pour with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, fresh, sweet and tart of the blueberries. Taste is mild and berrylike. Viney and floral. Light malts and some bitters. Thanks BuckeyeBoy.

Bottle: Pours an amber caramel color with light off-white head. The nose is ripe initially with blueberry, like the dried ones you find in pancake mix. The flavor is lightly fruity and has more pronounced bitter hop note that covers up any sweetness you might interpret from the fruity nose. This somewhat ruins the fruity experience, but it was nice to smell initially. Oh well.

Pours a translucent copper amber with a one finger fizzy yellowish head. Gone in a flash. Smells like wet dog, I guess thats the attempt at blueberry, lightly grassy, mildly sweet, . The flavor is crisp, a light grassy bitterness, mild blueberry, not very sweet, a little corn flavor. Flavor is better than aroma. Not terrible to drink, a little crisp. Doable.

12 oz bottle...pours amber w/ a quickly diminishing off-white head. The aromas are mix of herbs, blueberries, caramel malts. The flavors are a refreshing blend of blueberries, some earthiness, malt, light caramel, and slight citrus. The palate is fizzy, somewhat dry, and light bodied. Very refreshing, and just a nice sipping brew. This was a pleasant surprise.
