A good, clean nutbrown ale with a malty body. This is our most popular ale due to its smooth and malty flavor. We use a mixture of pale, crystal and black malts in this one, and our primary hop is Target, though we also add some Whitbread Goldings Variation as well. The Real Ale is best fresh, so fresh in fact, that it's great right out of the bright tank.

Bottle from spence as an extra... Cool beans. Pours reddish brown with a thin cream colored head with good retention. Nose of burnt sugar and nut. Taste is astringent with notes of caramel, toffee. Body is a bit thin.

Light & drinkable brown. Has a decent palate but lacking in flavor. Quite mellow & malty. Ok.

The aroma is nut with a touch of sweet caramel. Highly active off white head that starts enormous and is reluctant to come down. The body is rich but clear mahogany. Mild nut and spice taste. Malt character is smooth and clean to finish.

Pours a massive, unstoppable heap of dense off-white foam. Underneath there is some brown liquid, but I can’t quite reach it. Trying harder, i get to the rather bland nutty and metallic flavor - like my first attempt at home-brewing a brown ale so many years ago. Big fan of their coal porter, but this is not quality.

The body looks like coke, but with a huge tan head of foam that lasts a long time. Aromas are pleasant chocolate, bread and vanilla, but with some unwelcome rubbing alcohol. For all its promising beginnings it’s actually pretty disappointing. Really not much here except a little sweet malt and a little bitter herb. Thin and watery body is also a let down. I guess if you get one of these just pour it, look at it, smell it, then walk away?

Bottle. Nose is sweet with a little earthen dust and a goodly amount of roast and slighter chocolate, airy. Pours deep red with a rather large and fizzy tan head. Taste is very sweet, very airy and fizzy without being crisp; light acidity but seemingly not infected, more in line with coffee-type acidity and the present roast. Malt and hops are hidden under the overcarbonation, waiting only allows more booze to come out.

draft, I liked this one. didnt expect it to be great, Good hop flavors and bitter roasty finish saves this brown ale. caramel sweetness and some roast in the middle. Nice stuff.
