Commercial Description:
Akin to a barley wine, we suggest this ale as an after dinner drink. It has a truly unique & sophisticated flavor due to the use of wildflower honey as the catalyst for the production of alcohol. We simply use pale malt and a very small amount of Target hops in this Belgian style ale. The bulk of the body, color and sweetness come from the 2,000 lbs. of honey we add to the boil. The Brother is cellared for up to a year before it is bottled, which helps to marry the flavors and create the complex palate in this Bragget.

I’m not a big honey beer fan, but this contender successfully straddles the fence between its honey origins and its Belgian ambitions. This beer is as subtle as it is strong, and it is very, very strong... As good as anything I’ve tasted from a microbrewery.

Bomber. Lovely clover honey nose with a touch of alcohol and a nice grainy malt bill. A little too saccharine. Pours much darker than expected, A dark ruby-amber, with a short creamy beige head. Sweet, richly malt, syrupy taste full of sugar and honey with pale malts just sparkling to their hearts’ content. Warming without being at all harsh, and even manages to dry out a bit by the end. Thickish, chewy feel and a bit of a Brandy tone. Just as soothing and bottomless as one could ask for while sitting and sipping on a balcony on a breezy summer’s night, gazing into the void and contemplating it all. Very pleasant!

Would love to have this again (hint, hint!).

650 ml. Clear, dark reddish copper with a small, fleeting head. Aroma of cherry, blackberry and honey with some oak and light alcohol. Flavor follows aroma profile, with more earthy oak, honeycomb, nuts and cocoa becoming evident the further you go. Medium body is mostly smooth, with some light alcohol warming, and dry on the finish. Kind of like what I imagine a cabernet that’s been sweetened a touch with honey would be like, and not bad once you get accustomed.

bottle-pours a dissipating to a ring off white head and amber color. Aroma is cheese, musty, then alcohol, sweet medium malt-some honey. Taste is herbal/medicinal, yeast, musty, then alcohol, sweet medium malt-some honey. Finish is herbal/metallic. Not my taste. Thanks, JWC for sharing.

Not overly impressed with this by itself, but it really came to life when paired with dessert, which was a huge piece of carrot cake. It really brought out the sweetness of the honey. Not overly complex in anyway, pretty much just straight ahead honey notes, alcohol and a bit of floral earthiness in the finish. Not impressed and not really what I have come to like in a Braggot.
