3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A - Pours a ruby brown with a 1 finger, slightly off-white head that sinks into a frothy ring. Leaves thin horizontal lines of lace.
S - Sugary dark fruit dipped into fragrant wild flower honey. Cherries, red apples, and cinnamon spice.
T - Sweet malt blended with a heavy dose of honey. Concentrated cherries. Subtle citrus hops add some bite to round out the sweet malt. It has an woody-oak alcohol flavor. The honey is more pronounced in the nose than in the flavor.
The honey is not shy and works beautifully with the malt. The hops are mellow. The carbonation and spice help with balance.
This seems to be more along the lines of an English Barleywine. A nice slow sipper.

I can see why the ratings are all over the place. I personally enjoy it lot! Loads of whiskey soaked wood, spiced apple cider and caramel. Honey sweetness throughout. Notes of nutmeg, light fruits, cake donuts, cinnamon and raisins.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
1 pint 6 fl oz bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Aromas are honey, toffee, molasses, and oak. Tastes are lightly sweet honey, wood, raisin, and some alcohol. Full body, medium carbonation with a long oaky and warming alcohol finish. Not a big fan of barley wine but they’ve done a good job masking the massive 11.8% abv.

Brought back to me from Maine by a new friend, this is a 10.5% 2015 edition. This is my first Bragget so It’s hard to judge. I am judging it the best I can based on Barley Wine experience. Super interesting, this ale is a must for fans of Bourbon. It’s what hits you first and foremost and clings on until the bittersweet end. There is no doubt that this beer is for special occasions, mine being moving a huge couch into a small second-story apartment...no small task. This beast is somehow both clear and cloudy at once, reddish brown and destroying any chance of forming a lasting head. In the nose is bourbon, vanilla, oak, fig, toffee, coconut, honey, brown bread, cherries.... all caramelised to the max. The taste matches perfectly and warms to the core with only one swig. There is only enough bitterness and alcohol to keep this from being to sweet but it does it’s job astonishingly. Slick and thick is the texture as bourbon, coconut and dark fruitcake send this softly carbonated beer down my throat. A magnificent creation for those who know what to look for.

bomber pour..this has been cellared for a few years..hoped that this would be worthy of cellaring..but overall this turned out to be one of the worst offerings I have sampled in some time..not much depth or complexity at all..aroma is mostly of the honey.taste profile comes across as a mix of sherry and honey...not getting much else..really memorable in a negative way

"pours like a dark barleywine. 1/2 barley half honey. nice restrained fruity nose, with a hint of earthy hops and spice. easy drinking for a brew so strong. the flavor was nice, but maybe more suited for summertime...it just didn’t do a whole lot for me."

An interesting yet intense honey beer. Pours a beautiful deep amber with a super thick white head. Huge honey smell. Taste is very very malty, with a bit of spiciness in the beginning. More sweetness in the finish, with a bit of booze as well. Had on tap at the brewery.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smells mostly of honey and syrup. Deep, complex flavors of honey, dark fruit, molasses, syrup, caramel, toffee and some other sweet stuff. A bit warming but the alcohol is barely present. If I could find one knock on this beer it would be that the body is just a bit thin. Overall, however, an excellent beer.
