Akin to a barley wine, we suggest this ale as an after dinner drink. It has a truly unique & sophisticated flavor due to the use of wildflower honey as the catalyst for the production of alcohol. We simply use pale malt and a very small amount of Target hops in this Belgian style ale. The bulk of the body, color and sweetness come from the 2,000 lbs. of honey we add to the boil. The Brother is cellared for up to a year before it is bottled, which helps to marry the flavors and create the complex palate in this Bragget.

A - Pours a ruby brown with a 1 finger, slightly off-white head that sinks into a frothy ring. Leaves thin horizontal lines of lace. S - Sugary dark fruit dipped into fragrant wild flower honey. Cherries, red apples, and cinnamon spice. T - Sweet malt blended with a heavy dose of honey. Concentrated cherries. Subtle citrus hops add some bite to round out the sweet malt. It has an woody-oak alcohol flavor. The honey is more pronounced in the nose than in the flavor. The honey is not shy and works beautifully with the malt. The hops are mellow. The carbonation and spice help with balance. This seems to be more along the lines of an English Barleywine. A nice slow sipper. Serving type: bottle 10-04-2010

Color of honey, 1 finger white head. Aroma is pure honey. Opens a bit thin, with some cloying honey in the finish. Really interesting.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a red/brown/copper colored body that leaves a small off-white almost light tan film of a head with lumpy valleys, some ever so small bubbles trickle up making a clear ring around the top. The smell was sweet, its mainly the honey that comes out very strong. Some yeasty wheat tones come out as well. The alcohol comes out in the smell. The taste was sweet through the honey once again trying desperately to block the alcohol, but I definitely notice the alcohol in the taste. On the palate, it was smooth and wet, a good medium carbonation feel yet a slight harshness on the tongue Overall, though I can feel the alcohol burn going down, this is almost hard to believe this is a beer. This is definitely a dessert beer for two reasons: 1) the sweetness 2) the abv will help you sleep. I would definitely get this again.

If looks tasted and smells like a mead. Aroma is straight honey mead, sweet and somewhat raw. Flavor brings honey mead as the backbone which games the resiny sweetness of the malts so well.

Pours a hazy amber color with little head. There’s a bunch of sediment floating around. Aroma is of malts, raisins, honey, and a little clove. Flavor is the same. A little more bitter than I was expecting. Leaves a bittersweet honey and malt finish.

A 2011 bottle consumed in 2013. This was delicious and makes me wish that I’d brought more back from the brewery. Aroma - lemon, honey, toffee, cherry jolly rancher, butterscotch, becomes more raisiny as time passes after opening; taste - sour, tart, warming with bread baking, honey. This has aged amazingly well. If you have some, let it age and see how well this ages.

A: Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring, Minimal Lacing S: Honey, Raisins, Mild Sweet Malts T: Honey, Sweet Bread, Mild Raisins M: Average Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Semi Sweet Overall, a nice easy drinking Braggot that wasn’t too sweet or sugary. Honey flavor seemed pretty genuine.

Pours dark amber no head. Smell huge honey stick. Taste sweet honey and a bit of red fruit. Sweet but drinkable. ABV well hidden. Good.

The beer pours a dark, murky, amber brown, like honey muddled with mud and water. The beer pours with a thin ring of bubbles that fizzle away and appear almost soda-like in quality. The beer’s body is murky, like fresh honey. The other side of the glass is indiscernible through the haze, but some light does travel through the beer. It leaves a thin set of legs on the glass when it washes up against the sides. On the nose, the beer smells richly of fresh, wildflower honey. Sticky and rich on the nose, the honey muddles with thick caramel malts, similar to Long Trail’s Triple Bag. Maple syrup, honey, toffee, and even some chocolate fudge touch upon the nose. On the tongue, the beer tastes sticky sweet but a little too bitter, with a bit of a bite on the middle of the palate. Hot booze tingles as the beer travels down the throat, and the finish is a little dry for what I want with just a touch of boozy sweet. On the tongue, the beer is on the heavy side of medium, practically heavy, with a chewy, slightly rough mouthfeel and faint carbonation. The beer bites at the tongue, oddly enough, which takes away from the rich, honeyed flavors that the beer should possess. It does, however, gel on the back of the tongue with some syrupy goodness. In flavor, the beer begins as sweet caramel barley, which turns into fiery alcohol with some interesting spice character and a touch of woodiness on the middle of the palate. The finish is hot and cloying with fusel notes. Touches of stone fruit and raisins can briefly be felt on the tongue, but really this beer is all about the hot booze on the finish. The aftertaste finally brings hints of sticky sweet honey to the tongue, where it creates a pool of saliva. As the beer warms it mellows some of its rougher edges, but still hits the palate with too much booze and not enough honey character. Overall, this beer is lacking in sweet, soft honey flavors that I want from it. I want a sticky thick beer but this just doesn’t quite deliver for me. The smell is rich with honey character but I get none in the taste. I suspect that with time in a cellar, this beer will open up into a rich and unique dessert beer, but it’s a bit of a hot mess fresh. Complexity in this beer opens up the warmer it is, but it still is a muddled mess on the palate. If you have a bottle, sit on it.

Torpedo bottle. Almost no head. Brownish color. Aroma is lots of honey goodness, and some sugar sweet malt. Medium sweetness. Little carbonation. Warming alcohol. A sipper. Nice honey notes. Interesting.

On tap at Mainely Meats right next to the brewery. Pours a faintly hazed gold with a thin white to beige head. Big and sweet, soft oxidization, spicy wheat. Long honey sweetness into spicy alcohol. Warm and fairly smooth.
