2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at $3 Dewey’s. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. The aroma is of coffee, notes of chocolate, malts, and caramel. The flavor is pretty smooth but bland; roasted malt, chocolate and coffee flavors. It’s relatively sweet, and goes down pretty smooth.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Opaque black/brown with a light head and tiny dots of lace. Taste is roasted malt; it adds black coffee midway through the palate, providing a subtle, but effective, bittering. Simple, straight-forward, quite drinkable.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured as part of a taster at the brewery. This porter has a classic porter appearance in the glass. I like coffee a lot, but this overemphasized the burnt/smoky flavors in a typical porter and there was no dark chocolate or underlying maltiness to help balance this out. I’ll stick with the classic Fuller’s London Porter for the same price.

Love at first taste. Chocolate mocha start with rich coffee tones and a surprising smooth finish. Good with burger or ribs.
