COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasonal - December to February.
Atlas Brewery’s winter beer, Blizzard, is a rich golden 4.7%, with a distinct warming spiciness and a dry hoppy aftertaste.
The beer is brewed with a combination of four different malts and three different hops. This provides a sophisticated balance of different aromas and flavours to tickle the tastebuds and warm the toes through the winter months.

Cask Stillage at the Metropolitan Cathedral Crypt, Liverpool 17/02/2007 Spicy aroma. Amber coloured and hazy in appearance. Hoppy. Some alcohol present. Slightly bitter crisp malt finish.

[Cask from Gallas] Clear, deep amber, small, tight head. Rich aroma of pale malt, grapefruit hop aromas, with some floral nuances. Full body, malt sweetness balanced with a fruity hop finish. Great beer.

Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Orange Amber with white head. A beautiful looking beer, much complimented in the pub, but with very strange flavours. Tart and sour notes in a fruity, grainy body. Harsh malts with a sourdough type character. I wasn’t keen at all.

A Mes rate: Cask at Bar Fringe in Manchester. Superbly conditioned as all the casks at Fringe always are. Strange grapefruit and melon with some lovely aromatic hops coming through. Impressive head retention for what it is. Whiskey like finish with some grassy hops. Nice creamy palate.

Very nice, a little sweet, and bitter at the same time, i like that, not boring, very dark, and the flavor is like sweet Belgian beers but not fruity, perhaps it has some ingredients rerlated, it has foam.

Cask: Deep gold with a white head. Nice nutty sweet flavour. Strange fruity edge. Medium bodied with some berry notes.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. The blurb for this beer makes it sound alluring and complex. I found it to be less so, managing to jot only the word ’vegetal’ in my notebook.

A very strange brew this. Lots of nutty, oaty maltiness with spicy, vegetal hop notes and a peaty, grainy and still spicy finish a bit like an Islay whisky! (Cask)

Cask Conditioned, at the Oakdale Arms, North London.
An attractive golden beer but slightly thin. Pleasant session beer but with all the beer on offer 25-30 beers on pump or gravity, our standards/expectations were very high.

Well, this beer is certainly an attractive rich golden colour, but after that, I depart from the commercial description. I have tasted, and enjoyed, a number of Atlas beers, but I found this one soft, rather bland and short of grip. OK, but nothing to write home about. Handpump, Oakdale Arms, London
