COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasonal - December to February.
Atlas Brewery’s winter beer, Blizzard, is a rich golden 4.7%, with a distinct warming spiciness and a dry hoppy aftertaste.
The beer is brewed with a combination of four different malts and three different hops. This provides a sophisticated balance of different aromas and flavours to tickle the tastebuds and warm the toes through the winter months.

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A dark nut-brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of nuts and toffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruit, nuts, toffee, and citrusy hops, as well as a light touch of diacethyl.

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden brown with a little off-white head. Mild fruity and slight nutty aroma. Flavour has the same in a rather vibrant cask pour. Slight acidic note mixing in with a mild bitterness towards the end. Gains some more strength in bitterness along the way.

Cask at Charlies. Clear amber coloured with an off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and fruits with notes of smoke. Fruity flavour of wood and caramel with murky notes.

Cask Conditioned at The Castle, Furnival St., London
Dark amber color; thin frothy head. Aroma of caramel and toffee, old meat. Caramel flavor, light residual sweetness, but the buttery touch tastes like old meat. Correct bitterness. Weird, not good.

Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Orange Amber with white head. A beautiful looking beer, much complimented in the pub, but with very strange flavours. Tart and sour notes in a fruity, grainy body. Harsh malts with a sourdough type character. I wasn’t keen at all.

A Mes rate: Cask at Bar Fringe in Manchester. Superbly conditioned as all the casks at Fringe always are. Strange grapefruit and melon with some lovely aromatic hops coming through. Impressive head retention for what it is. Whiskey like finish with some grassy hops. Nice creamy palate.

Well, this beer is certainly an attractive rich golden colour, but after that, I depart from the commercial description. I have tasted, and enjoyed, a number of Atlas beers, but I found this one soft, rather bland and short of grip. OK, but nothing to write home about. Handpump, Oakdale Arms, London
