Inspired by the beers that accompanied America’s expansion into the West, District Common is fermented using a lager yeast at temperatures common to ale fermentation. The result is a pale, well-balanced beer combining crisp lager character with fruity ale notes. The clean grain bill provides a refreshing drinkability and supports late aroma additions of Czech Saaz hops.

Cheers Gene for this 355ml can which was shared on 26th Jan 2016 by the Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting. Cloudy light amber, wispy white head. Slightly sour and yeasty brew with a mixed fruit and herbal aroma and taste. Different and almost interesting.

Draft at the Prospect. Hazy orange color. Caramel and some light hops come through. Balanced flavor overall. Solid beer, but a little dull. Decent enough.

(Thanks, Gene! "Travlr") Can. A- Squash, spice, trash, caramel, cereal. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- City water, cereal, spices, grassy, malty. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- I truly wanted to like this but it was just down right not too good. Only my second common so maybe it’s the style but this just was a sad brew.

Can. Pours a clear copper body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is a bit grainy and husky with cereal and just a light hint of hops. The flavor is a bit off, a slight metallic twang on the late finish after a grainy and rough middle. Little to no hops in the flavor. This just isn’t all that good. Lighter bodied with fizzy carbonation and a slight cling on the back end. Meh, I think there are some quality issues with this one.

appearance: is this a lager? Hazy orange brown, two fingers of soapy light yellow head shrinking to a thin cap, good lacing. aroma: very bready, with additional light citrus and slight herb garden aromas. taste: malty, with rustic toasted whole grain bread, lemongrass, cardboard, and honey. finish: slightly slick, with a lingering honey cough drop, grass, pepper and orange note. notes: Ah, ok--California Common. That makes more sense. Not your typical lager. Well-constructed, relatively easy drinking. Slightly muddled flavors, but I seem to find that in most examples of the style. Can from Total Wine and More in Alexandria, Virginia.
