COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the beers that accompanied America’s expansion into the West, District Common is fermented using a lager yeast at temperatures common to ale fermentation. The result is a pale, well-balanced beer combining crisp lager character with fruity ale notes. The clean grain bill provides a refreshing drinkability and supports late aroma additions of Czech Saaz hops.

Crisper and lighter with a better hop profile than any other California common that I’ve had. Finally able to get my hands on a great example of the style without being on the West Coast.

Tap, golden pour, small white head, nose is slighty bitter, taste is grassy, decent common.

On tap at some bar. Pours hazy golden. Aroma of pale malts, some dough and bread, and light hops. Flavor the same. Average to lighter texture. A decent beer for the style.

Keg @ some random hipster bar. Split with Travlr. SLightly hazy gold pour with a small head. Pretty basic biscuit and white pear on the nose. Bready malt. Slight toasted grass bitterness. More apples and pear. Light body, active carbonation. Pleasant.

This is a decent common and its certainly well-balanced, though I would’ve like a bit more flavor. It has a pretty non-descript, dirtiness to it...

Not bad for style. The thing about steaming like this is the barley doesn’t come out so much. Pours yellowy orange with ok head and lacing. Some crisp finish. Tap at Brixton.

Draft. Poured a slightly hazy pale amber. Light fruit, lightly spicy hops aroma. Crackers and light malt. Easy drinking.

On draft at Thunderburger in D.C. The beer is mostly clear and golden hued with a soft white head. Malt, biscuits and some mild hoppiness in the aroma. Easy drinking and clean. Refreshing with a dry finish. Light in body with zesty carbonation. A decent beer. I enjoyed my pint.

Location/Date:Draft at Comet Ping Pong, 11/22/2013.

Appearance: Pours orange.
Aroma: Aroma of light hop, hint of lager character
Taste: More balanced than I’ve had other California Commons, nice amount of hops for the style.
Palate:Light body.

Summary: I was pleasantly surprised by this. Didn’t know what to expect. Would definitely have again.

Easy drinking but uninspiring. A good sessionable beer and should be a staple of their lineup but nothing amazing.

Draught @ Smoke and Barrel, Washington, D.C. Pours clear amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt with fruity notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of malt and metal with fruity notes. Metaælic and slughtly fruity aftertaste. Could be better.
