Growler from the tasting room at Atlas Brew Works. Dark saison with a lot of fruitiness and sour taste. Pots dark bet color with little head. Pretty decent saison but I'm local to DC so a little biased. Good to try if you're in town. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at the 9th Richmond Rare & Unusual Epic Tasting, Richmond, VA, 11/30/14. Pours a clear copper with a large frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart stone fruits, mild spice. The taste is tart stone fruit, apple, bread, spice. Medium bodied, mild lingering spice.

Nice high alcohol take on a saison. Nice yeast strain and wild ester flavors. Good head and lacing. Pretty beer.

Bottle thanks to nimbleprop, DC tick! Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread and grain with a bit of earthy and dry notes. Flavor has lots of bread and grain notes with a touch of Belgian yeast.

On tap at Jackpot in downtown Washington, DC. Hazy, rusty brown with a small khaki head and very good lacing. Aroma of spice, banana, yeast, brown bread, caramel, earthy dark fruit and a touch of brown sugar. Taste of brown bread, banana, cloves, gingerbread, raisins, caramel and a bit of brown sugar. Medium body and medium/high carbonation. Stylewise, this is a most unusual beer. It is a dark saison with elements of a dubbel and even a malty barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Jack Rose, DC: Pours light brown with a tannish head. Aroma is light fruitiness, some caramel, maybe some yeast, but this certainly did not scream saison at me. Taste is somewhat sweet. Some fruitiness. Dry bitterness. Meh. Not bad, but...

Draft->mini lager. Hazy mid amber with small tan head. Some holiday spices mixed with caramel and fall fruits. Interesting, and quite good for me, as I typically do not like the style.

Draft at Ghibellina in Washington DC. Poured a hazy amber color with a small creamy, dense off-white head. Aroma was light cloves, spices, sweet candi notes. Flavor had some orange citrus zest, sweet malts, booze. Interesting, but I wish it was a bit more funky.

Draft at the source. Clear darm amber color, large tan head. Aroma has butterscotch, caramel, light spice. Taste is vanilla, fruity caramel. I miss the funkiness of other saisons.

Samples and growlers from Atlas. Pours a hazy amber with some swirling white head. Nose of butterscotch, spice, clove, some light alcohol, some dried fruit, pear brandy, some orange. Flavor is the same, sweet, candy, lightly boozy, spice, clove, some all spice, yeasty, some orange peel, butterscotch. Slick, buttery finish. A decent holiday saison.

Perfectly combines what would be expected from a classic saison with a classic winter warmer while managing to not have one style dominate the other. Fantastic change of pace from the usual winter warmers.
