Made with three varieties of hops and a generous amount of specialty malts, Rowdy offers a complex flavor and aroma that is both aggressive and fun. The addition of malted rye to the grain bill lends a peppery and distinct character to the beer which complements the bitterness and floral notes of brewhouse hop additions. Finally, this copper-hued ale receives a liberal addition of dry hops in the fermenting vessel, imparting citrus aromas and a crisp, clean finish.

Can dated 1/13/15. Light brown color. Aroma is old pine hops. Taste is rye dominant. Straight up rye bread spices. The can says hop forward rye ale, more like rye forward rye extract. Ok, only because I was really thirsty.

Dark mahogany beer with a medium foamy light beige head. Somewhat unusual nose for the style with light citrus hops, a bit of pepper, and subtle cereal grains. The flavor provides more sweet malt that forms a base for a few other flavors, such as earthy spice, wood, and even a bit of smoke. This is then finished with an astringent bitterness that coats the tongue. Good beer.

Keg @ Big Hunt. Cloudy Chestnut with a creamy tan head. Pretty nutty. Spiced caramel and gingerbread. Taste is nicely spicy. Quite earthy. A mouthful of burning pine and dirt. Medium body, soft carb. Solid.

Pours dark brown with off white head and lacing that evenly peppers the glass. Aroma is light with bread and rye. Taste is better with moderate bitterness that pushes through the peppery rye and maltiness.

On tap at the brewery. Dark tan brown with tan head. Aroma is piney grassy hops. Flavor starts off hoppy and pine then in the finish the rye malt comes through for balance. The hops sticks around through the long finish. Nice brew and well named.

Aroma: Rye malt aroma, some fruity notes, spice, and some bread
Appearance: It pours an unclear copper color with a frothy off-white head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, rye bread, spice, and some bitter hops notes as well
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with a clean, lightly dry finish to it
Overall Impression: This is my first rating from Atlas Brew Works! This one is a pretty solid rye beer. I thought it worked nicely. I would happily try more beers from Atlas.
