Made with three varieties of hops and a generous amount of specialty malts, Rowdy offers a complex flavor and aroma that is both aggressive and fun. The addition of malted rye to the grain bill lends a peppery and distinct character to the beer which complements the bitterness and floral notes of brewhouse hop additions. Finally, this copper-hued ale receives a liberal addition of dry hops in the fermenting vessel, imparting citrus aromas and a crisp, clean finish.

Always love me some rye and this one didnt disapoint. Nice mix of malts and dry finish. Decent alcohol that was not too overpowering.

Draught @ Open City Café, Washington. Pours black-red with fading white head. Bit malty sweetish nose, but flavour is all business: rye sticky and sticking out, roasted malts, with an almost dry bitter finish. Liking it.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a large, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and cookie malt, dates, spicy and earthy hops. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness and a clean lager character with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap 4 oz. taste at DC Beer Fest at Nationals Park in SE Washington, DC. Hazy, dark amber-brown with a large khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of rye bread, caramel and citrus. Draft at Churchkey. Pours clear reddish brown with a frothy off white head. Tastes light, fruity, with medium citrus hops, some bitterness, and some malty spiced cider. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like sweet gummy candy, funk, and herbs.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2013 On tap at ChurchKey. Weird beer! Not a traditional IPA (CKDC lists it as one but...), not even close. Aroma of toasted nuts. Flavor is full of hazelnut. Hops are there and they provide some kick... but they seem to be secondary? Fascinating beer.

Tap at Churchkey. Pours dark amber/ruby with creamy off-white head. Aroma is fresh floral and grassy hops, caramel and biscuit malts, raisins, and light spice. Flavor is hop bitterness forward with some dry malts and dried dark fruit notes; dry finish with some earthy bitterness lingering. Medium body and low carbonation.

"Complex flavor" is an understatement for this beer. Way more to it than just being a standard pale ale with a bit of rye. Great balance between the malts, rye and hops with the citrus hop profile coming through little bit after the rye. Incredibly versatile as it is easy drinking enough for a hot summer day but will definitely work well through the fall and winter. My new go-to.
