"Complex flavor" is an understatement for this beer. Way more to it than just being a standard pale ale with a bit of rye. Great balance between the malts, rye and hops with the citrus hop profile coming through little bit after the rye. Incredibly versatile as it is easy drinking enough for a hot summer day but will definitely work well through the fall and winter. My new go-to.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2013 On tap at ChurchKey. Weird beer! Not a traditional IPA (CKDC lists it as one but...), not even close. Aroma of toasted nuts. Flavor is full of hazelnut. Hops are there and they provide some kick... but they seem to be secondary? Fascinating beer.

Hazy, dark amber-brown with a large khaki head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of rye bread, caramel and citrus.
Taste of spicy herbal hops, caramel and rye bread.
Medium body and medium carbonation.

on tap at Old Ebbitt Grill; amber color; piney, citrusy hop aroma with mild caramel and rye notes; nice smooth flavor - rye malt with light caramel notes and a good deal of citrusy, piney hops; smooth, bitter finish

Draft sample at Iron Horse. Reddish brown with small offwhite head. Loads of malt, both bitter and sweet, balanced with grains and light citrus hops. Very well done.

A pretty good beer. Almost like a spicy pale ale. Some pepper, citrus, and bread. Tried with Jess at Iron Horse in 2014.

On tap at the brewery. Dark tan brown with tan head. Aroma is piney grassy hops. Flavor starts off hoppy and pine then in the finish the rye malt comes through for balance. The hops sticks around through the long finish. Nice brew and well named.

Pours dark brown with off white head and lacing that evenly peppers the glass. Aroma is light with bread and rye. Taste is better with moderate bitterness that pushes through the peppery rye and maltiness.

Tap at Churchkey. Pours dark amber/ruby with creamy off-white head. Aroma is fresh floral and grassy hops, caramel and biscuit malts, raisins, and light spice. Flavor is hop bitterness forward with some dry malts and dried dark fruit notes; dry finish with some earthy bitterness lingering. Medium body and low carbonation.

Draft at Churchkey. Pours clear reddish brown with a frothy off white head. Tastes light, fruity, with medium citrus hops, some bitterness, and some malty spiced cider. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like sweet gummy candy, funk, and herbs.
