COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - March to May.
Atlas Brewery’s spring beer is Equinox, a beer of real subtlety. Brewed with the best Highland honeys, Equinox is a golden pale ale with a fruity, floral spring promise and a hint of honey in the aftertaste.
The beer is brewed with the best Highland honeys, and this shows in delicate notes of acacia and heather on the nose, opening into a body of soft, rounded malt notes. The finish is a long aftertaste of floral hop aromas and a delicious, delicate honey sweetness.
This is not a ’honey beer’ as such - it has no overwhelming sweetness or honey flavours on the palate, but the flowery notes in the aroma and the delicate honey aftertaste give this beer that ’something different’ that draws you back for another pint!

Cask conditioned at Coventry Beer Fest ’07. Pale gold, green with white head. Light hoppy easy drinking beer, also reminding me of a Kolsch. Bright and sessionable, sweet malt on the finish.

A lovely smooth, mellow and malty golden beer with lots of fruit (pears and peaches) and a full, mouth filling malt finish. It has hints of the Kolsch style, but is far tastier than most of the real ones from Koln although not as subtly deicious as Paffgen. Good stuff anyway. (Cask @ Reading BF)

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading, Berkshire. Crystal clear pale gold body loose cream head, leaving plenty of lacing as consumed; predominantly hoppy aroma; citrus and grainy flavours; with a pleasing dry and bitter finish. A well-rounded ale, but I didn’t detect any honey.

Cask-conditioned at the Knights Templar (JDW), Bristol 26/04/09. Deep gold in colour with a slight white head. Sweetish aroma, with some honey and floral hops. Flavour had some grains, citrus and floral hops and a decent bitter finish. Pretty good.

Clear gold beer. Dry and crisp palate. Nice level of hops without being too aggressive in the bitterness department.

Cask at White Swan, Broadstairs, Kent After a long bike ride, this did not last long, so I don’t quite know what I made of it. Deep gold colour with hoppy nose and some malty fruit. Hoppy smooth finish

Cask, half pint in fine condition at the JDWs festival. Low, white head leaving kirchenfenster on the glass. Clear golden body. Mild hoppy aroma. Ditto taste with a resin-oily touch. Nice and lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Medium bodied. Quite pleasing to the palate (Wheatsheaf Bar in Stoke, 02.05.2009).

Gravity, Reading Beer Festival. A top fermented lager, something of an Atlas speciality, and a style that is spreading over from France and becoming very popular. This has some citric notes and a decent body. Not bad.
