Draft at Fobab. Pours a deep hazy amber with an offwhite head. Nose has a bit of tang to it, rye and white oak. Some amber and vanilla to go along with some raw graininess. On tasting, moderately sweet and tasty. Vanilla and caramel, drying rye. Thin bodied overall. I think the oak has washed this out even more. Okay.

Sample FOBAB ’12 - Moderate rye nose with some wood/earth notes. Flavor was okay with the expected rye flavors and some fruity accents. Body was remarkably thin, which in all fairness wasn’t helped by the other offerings at this festival. Overall this beer failed to impress on any level.

Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer well hazed amber brown hue, big haze, frothy deep hues, and an offwhite head that dies to a film, laces ok. Aromas are rye, deadened oak, gentle vanilla, some rye, gentle fruit. Initial is lighter end of the fold with oak, vanilla, toffee, toast, coffee gentle roast. Middle is gentle floral and earthy hops, kisses of citrus, toffee, toast, vanilla, and oak. Backend shows some toast, roast, earth. Gentle grass, straw, and frothy dryness. Oak, gentle oak. I did not like regular Monadnock.. But this is ok. serviceable.
