Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and metal, leading to a dry metallic finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

04.02.2011. 0,33l Bottle. Meny Aksdal. Brown colour with thick off-white head. A little hazy. Aroma is malty with grssy hops. Fizzeling carbonation and a rather thin body. The bitterness is ok. This beer looks good with the dark colour and everything but it dissapoints me (Batch #9-7,03,02)

Didn’t had it with Rakfisk. Pours hazy brown with a minimal head. Roasty malt aroma with some notes of caramel, basement aromas, and light chocolate. Medium sweetness, lightly bitter and some malt flavour there toguether with some burnt caramel. Light to medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation and a moderate bitter after finish that gives a better touch to the whole beer. It’s ok.

Bottle from Lerøy Mat, Bergen. Hazy brown body with a non-significant white head. Nose is weird funky yeastiness with some sourish, malty tones. Highly unusual. Kinda like a musty cellar filled with sour socks dipped in vinegar. Or something. Can’t really put it into words, but I suppose a crazy dish like "rakfisk" ("Øl Til Rakfisk" means "Beer For Rakfisk" in Norwegian), fermented fish served with potato tortillas ("lefse"), onions and sour cream deserves an equally strange beer. Taste proves much less strange, or at least much less flavorful. Sour-ish malty tones, some yeast and a slightly watery palate. Hints of grassy hops and pine. Not too exiting, after all. Personally, I think a good lambic or a rauchbier would suit "rakfisk" much better.
