COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A glorious golden ale with an outstanding well hopped fruity finish.
Is there a challenger to this outstandingly well hopped fruity ale? Our brewers golden recipe uses Maris Otter malt combined with three spicy aromatic hops. Which offers a cascade of floral flavours followed by a very smooth bitter finish.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2007, London. Clear medium orange color with a small, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate hoppy, flowers, pine, grapefruit, light malty, roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.

Cask (gravity dispense) at St Albans Beer Festival 2006. 5.0% according to the festival programme, 5.2% on the brewery website. Definitely golden, with a light haze, but not particularly aromatic for the style. Not hard to establish what the hops used are from the commercial description, but the Cascade doesn’t make a huge impression. There’s certainly some spicy hop character, but its not dominant. There’s a quite grainy impression and plenty of body to offset the hops. The mouthfeel is clean and mellow. Overall, a pleasant and well-tempered beer.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2007 Cask conditioned - handpump - Victoria Rugby. A golden coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. The aroma is well balanced with good citric hop flavours and nice malts. The taste is the same and the extra body provided by the alcohol is more than welcome. A nice tasty beer with a good long finish. (7,3,8,4,15(3.7))

Re-rate at GBBF2007

Again nice and hoppy. Citrus fruitiness. Subtle and flavoursome. Not as good as the first time but I wouldn’t expect it to be. (8,3,7,3,14(3.5))

Clear golden pour wearing an initial white head that rapidly diminishes. Brightly, strongly hopped ale trying to live up to its name. Very dry, floral, orangey and even grapefruity aromas. The light grassiness feels more English already, so does the growing sunflower seed and sesame, cerealic sweet maltiness that we find in mouth. Mostly an aromatic hop bill. Well-balanced and with a grip. Light-bodied, fitting carbonation.

Cask, The Crown, Nuneaton. Ripe hop citrus rounded with oaty biscuit. Deep gold with faint haze. Sulphur and citrus aroma with a rub of musty hopleaf. Billowing and lovely. Approaching something very good indeed.
