Cask at Market Porter, London. Amber beer with a beige head. Chocolate aroma, cocoa, fruit and bread. Hoppy flavor, chocolate, cocoa, bread, fruity and a bit vinous.

Cask handpull at Southampton Arms. Very deep briwn red colour thin collar of bubbles. Some lovely fruit. Yes that is an ok esb. Fine some hop on finish. Ok beer. Quite good.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2011 Cask conditioned gravity dispense Castle Caldecott . A dark dark brown coloured beer with some plum and berry on the nose. The taste has fruit and caramel sweetness. Sweet and almost hints of cola. Like nothing I’ve ever had from Atomic who are usually very reliable. Score 3.3

Cask at The Victoria Inn, Rugby (brewtap). Mahogany with a beige collar and ruby tints. Nose striking Flemish sour caramel and cherry, dab of vinegar. Mouth dusts with cocoa, hint of smoke, bramble, chiccory bitterness. Much sweeter and darker than Atomic’s typical efforts, with a far less assertive hop presence. Slick Black Country mild- like stillness. Don’t quite know what to make of this, or where to put it. Disappointing, tired or very odd. One to revisit I think.
