COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An interpretation of an original pilsener. Clean, strong, dry, and supper hoppy. In Germany this is called an Ur-Pils. Here in America, we call it an Imperial Pils. Brewed with two-row and Cara pils malts, with Magnum Tettnang and Herkules hops.

Pours a nice cloudy orange/yellow. Not much on the nose. Slight orange, grapefruit and floral. Taste is dull and bitter with hints of malt, orange and lemon. Palate is creamy but thin and carbonated. Rather disappointing.

Pours a cloudy yellow orange with a thick off-white head. Aroma of faint grain. Taste is smooth and nicely sweet followed by a cleansing bitterness that offsets the sweet. Nicely balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.7 Bottle pour into footed pilsener glass. Very active carbonation quickly raises a thick, foamy head. A little darker than other pilseners. The aroma brings back memories of beers from the 1960s. The carbonation did not give a fizzy tast. I like the heavy smoothness on the palate...makes it stand out. Atwater Block got it right with this one. I will buy again.

Mild aroma with malt, grassy hops, and maybe a little citrus. Taste is clean and slightly sweet, finishing dry with grassy hops and some fruit. Easy drinking but with some nice flavor.

12oz bottle from Siciliano’s Market in Grand Rapids, MI. Pours a cloudy, golden-orange colored body with a finger-width, dense, foamy and frothy, mostly white head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of a nice, sticky lacing. Aroma is floral with bright citruses and grassy hops that are a bit perfumey. Some grainy, pale malts behind the hops with a touch of bread. Flavor is similar. Well hopped with citrus grass and floral hops up front before a lightly sweetened, grainy and somewhat bready pale malt comes in. Grassy hops grow towards the end and get pretty bitter as this dries with some brighter citrus. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full, smooth body and a soft, medium-high carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid imperial pils. Well hopped and somewhat bitter, but I kind of like that with this. There is a nice, grainy and bready pale malt sweetness, but its not cloying like some imperial pils. Bright citruses and florals with lots of grass while this stays pretty clean and easy drinking. I liked this one.

Bottle… Hazy golden lager with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head. Excellent retention. The nose furnishes straw and pale grains. Medium to full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and carbonation. Heavily bitter flavor and finish. Tongue-numbing and strawy. Bottle courtesy of dmschefke!

Bottle. Cloudy, light amber body with a fizzy, white head, slowly diminishing. Grainy aroma with notes of grass, warm bread. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Taste of hops and peppery alcohol. The raw grain is overrun by bitterness. Too bitter. Unclean.

Pours a yellow-orange color with a medium white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Thin strings of lacing on the glass. Noble hops and sweet malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of grassy hops, bready malt and yeast. The finish is moderately hoppy with a short bitter aftertaste. Decent beer, which for Atwater is saying something.
