COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Octoberfest, a German tradition that celebrates harvest. Now Atwater carries on the tradition with our own special lager "Blocktoberfest". Brewed with 100% German malt for a rich taste and amber color.

Bottle thanks to Chuck. Poured medium caramel with a short cap of off-white head and some sediment in there. Aroma picked up lots of sour notes, which were not surprised after the explosive pour... some caramel deeper down, but mostly sour stuff. Flavor found the same sourness with some nutty notes represented.. a little vinegar rounds out the finish.. not good, but slightly better than the aroma. Light-bodied with sour vinegar and mild bitterness driving this in the wrong direction.

Draft sample at MBGF07. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium toasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Interesting brew.

This probably tops my list of favorite octoberfest style beers I’ve tried yet. Dark orange color, thick malted flavors / aromas. Caramel, syrupy, nutty, brown sugar...? Great spiced hops.... The only thing against a 6 pack of this is the inconsistent carbonation between each bottle. Two of the six I had were drastically over-carbonated with priming sugars, and one of the six was very flat, under carbonated. I guess it shows they’re hand-crafted...which is good.

Pailhead (4413) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - OCT 16, 2006
Bottle: Huge caramel syrup nose with a hint of fruit. Pours a dark transparent amber with a small off-white head that quickly fades to a tiny ring around the edges of the glass. Lots of caramel up front with some light brown sugar and fruit. Hints of roasted grain in the background along with a touch of coffee. Finishes with a mild earthy hoppiness and a touch of grass. Carbonation is very light making almost a tad watery.

nice orange-brown appearance with small creamy head...aroma is strong in caramel, toast, and earthy hops...flavor is very similar, begins very malty and finishes quite grassy...not bad

Deep orange-brown body, thin buff head. Cerealy, sweet nose, toasty, with grassy hops. Sweet cerealy body, somewhat corny, caramel, brown sugar, and herbal, grassy hops. Soft body. Sparse carbonation makes this feel a bit flat, but it has character.

I was suprized to try this old favorite. Usally when brewers try to recreate the past it never comes out just right. However I was very impressed with this recreation. Rich, smooth and full of well balanced malty goodness.

not a bad-looking oktoberfest. malty aroma, slightly off aroma with some slightly sour hops. good body, mostly dark malts, a little over-hopped but still a not bad oktoberfest.
