2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Near black with a tan head. Sweet bourbon, milk chocolate and strong booze aromas. Oddly boozy with not much flavor. Another miss from atwater for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, some wood, and a trace of vanilla. Tastes of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and a trace of bourbon. Bourbon/barrel aging on the softer side.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. Part of a tasting 11/24/2013 at Fraser’s Pub in Ann Arbor. The pour is dark, but not thick at all. It’s pretty translucent, and not a good start. The aroma is heavy in chocolate and fruity notes There are a plethora of fruit notes that come through, but I think the dominant one would be raisins. The flavor is a little similar. This wasn’t ’blow-you-away’ on any front, but it was pretty solid. Some coffee, caramel, and a little chocolate coming through. Not bad, but definitely not what I was expecting

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Burnt chocolate and roasted coffee aromas. Flavors of smooth dark chocolate and spiced raisins. Can definitely taste the bourbon, but not getting much of a barrel flavor. Leaves me wanting a bit more complexity but good overall.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a very small head. Nose is actually filled with a both chocolate and fruit notes. Taste has more fruit elements in it, but a similar flavor palate as the nose. Pretty decent brew....

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Champane’s Cellars. Underrated Baltic porter. Black coloured body and some retained head. Roast aroma. A little much roast but liked the bourbon and chocolate, nothing overpowering. A bit thin for the description, but good drinkability.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle (with a Sept 2011 date on the label, not sure if that’s a “bottled on” date or a “drink by” date) pours nice and dark with a mocha colored head of foam. The modest aroma offers up dark roasted malts, a dash of burnt malts and some toffee. OK, the taste hasn’t suffered with age as I’m sure I’ve had this for a few years. I get a nice dark roasted to burnt maltiness to start. Toward midway it picks up a pleasing sweet toffee note as a mild yet complimentary smooth vanilla and bourbon booziness also come to the surface. One of the better Barreled Aged Porters I’ve had as it is well balanced and not the slightest hint of infection despite the age of the bottle.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Something was off all around with this. It tasted boozy (way more than 6.8%), but not bourbon-y. And very heavy, almost to the point of distraction. Some coffee, I guess. Ended up not finishing it.
