Nearly black pour, tan head. Aroma? Well not much. A little char, not much else. Flavor is a bit smokey, char, ash, very very light bourbon. Not bad at all. From hellbilly!

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2011 Bottle. Pours a thin-looking brown with a decent head and roasts aromas that have a bit sugar and maybe some bourbon and oak or wood. Flavor is pretty sweet with lots of brown sugar, a little roasted malt and some bourbon and peat/earth. It is a little thin and a little sweet with very little bourbon showing through, but it’s decent enough.

bottle... dark brown body, a bit dull, medium tan head, creamy, good retention but not much lace... light aroma, a touch of bourbon, bitter cocoa, off... the bourbon comes off too much on the taste, its thin and more straight alcohol than bourbon, a bit of chocolate on the finish... very subpar effort

12 ounce. Creamy porter. Nice head retention. Taste is chocolate. Not too big a body. Some vanilla. No real bourbon I can detect. Nov bottling (this year - 11?)

12 ounce bottle into snifter; bottled Sept 2011. Pours very dark brown color with a small tan head with decent retention that reduces to a thin cap that lasts. Small bits of lacing cling to the glass. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, nuttiness, vanilla, light bourbon, and a touch of spicy hops. Some nice aromas with good balance. Taste of big roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, caramel, light charcoal, spicy hops, and a bit of wood. Fair amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, roasted malt, and spiciness on the finish. Nice balance of flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouhfeel. A tad bit on the watery side from what I was expecting, but it isn’t that big of a beer anyways. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming on the finish. Overall this is a damn nice porter. The barrels didn’t lend much bourbon taste to this beer, but maybe they enhanced it and added some flavors. I have never had the normal porter so I can’t compare at this time.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours dark brown with a small, fizzy, beige head. Huge chocolate in the bouquet with a lesser, but excellent component of roasted marshmallow. Medium to full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor furnishes dark chocolate and charcoal acridness with succulent, caramely Munich malt. Finishes roasty and bitter. Bottle courtesy of 50belair!

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Roasted malt aromas. Dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, cocoa bean, and hints of vanilla. Nice...

somewhat of a surprise bottle offering from Atwater, a bourbon barrel brew. resembles their typical porter with just a touch of vanilla and wood, slight tannic and tangy acidity over the opaque and tan-headed liquor. clean and oaky, with plenty of unsweetened dark chocolate and some green earthy bitterness. a nice brew, but the barrel is probably unnecessary. enoyable but probably won’t have it more often than perhaps seasonally.

Bottle, thanks Mike! Pours brown with a small tan head. Nose is roast, cocoa, vanilla, light bourbon. Easy drinking, a little thin, but no major flaws. I enjoyed it as a lighter bourbon aged porter.
