Cherry Stout is a blend of 6 malts combined with Montmorency Cherry concentrate from our home state of Michigan. A stout to be cherished. Open It!

Bottle. What is it with this brewery? This is the second bottle from Atwater that I have tried to drink and the second bottle that exploded with foam and then tasted like sour, carbonated liquid badness. From what I tasted this beer has very little body and way too much carbonation. No malts to speak of. I need to give this brewery a fair shake, but right now I’m a little put out.

Pours a dark brown color with a brown head. Light aroma with cherries and roasted malts. Flavor is mostly cherry. Not much chocolate, coffee, or roasted malts, but they are still present.

Wow, was pretty disappointed in this beer, was hoping for more cherry flavor and bit thicker on the stout. Aroma of malts and cherries. Minimal head on the pour, nice dark pour. Flavor of malts with cherries at the end of the taste. I liked Bell’s Cherry Stout much more.

Appearance: Pours out a dark brown, near black body with a thin, wispy, off-white head. Smell: Mildly roasted and chocolaty malt notes with some tart-scented wafts of cherry flavoring. So far, it’s a tad lacking in terms of it being a purported stout and not overly effusive in its cherry qualities. Though, don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean I necessarily want to get BLOWN AWAY with cherries, I just want enough. Taste: Roasted grains and some unceremoniously discarded hunks of unsweetened chocolate. The cherry concentrate doesn’t provide much concentrated cherry taste, but there’s plenty of tartness present. Earthy, roasty bitterness. Lightly roasted, meagerly cherryish on the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. Drinkability: Over the years, I’ve had several faulty Atwater beers, chock full of alarming tartness. Here, though, I guess it’s somewhat appropriate. Even still, it’s not a particularly great fruit stout.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, caramel, roastiness, and faint tart cherry. It pours a dark brown that becomes more of an orangish-brown with some transparency when held to the light. It has a small tan head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate. The finish is a strange combination roasted malt, coffee, and light tart cherries. I’m not a real big fan of the tart cherry and coffee combination in cherry stouts. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle. Small tan head that mostly disappears atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, roast/coffee, some cherry, chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, some milk chocolate, vegetal, light roast. Light-medium body, some stickiness.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2010 Bottle purchased in South Carolina. Pours a brown black with a beige head that quickly fades. Cherry fruits some sweetness and chocolate roasted malts in the nose. Tart cherries sweet chocolate malts that go together well enough. A little sweet and a little tart. But decent and goes really well with my bean soup with orange juice and peppers.

strong with cherries, and thick like syrup. one of the better cherry stouts i have had, the thickness was the only downside to it.

Bottled. Clear dark brown pour, tan head. Nose is malt and cherry cordial candies. Flavor is roasty malt, and bitter cherry (too heavy on the pits?). Astringent finish. Pass this one by and find some Bell’s.
