2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Not a pretty beer. Pours a pale amber with barely any head. The aroma is a little malt. The flavor has the hop bitterness with a bit if malt sweetness to balance. The finish is dry but watery.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster on tap at HopCat in East Lansing. Totally clear golden orange color. Little white head. Short ropes of lace. Nice bigger citrusy aroma, grapefruit, some tropical fruit. Moderate to stronger assertive bitter taste, light zesty sweet. Pretty solid, enjoyable DIPA.

My impressions of Atwater havenít been very good (and looking at the overall averages of their beers, it seems others have felt the same). Hereís a good example. This DIPA looks the part, being hazy and golden, with an irregular lacing. The aroma suggests maltiness with a bit of cheese and rotten grapefruit. Definitely not good. I disagree with the other raters who find this to be flavorless. Thereís flavor, but it isnít great, with a mid-finish astringency that builds through the finish. Murky, grassy. No thank you. Bottle.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours light amber with a good amount of lacing. Aroma of malt. Taste is a bit watery with bitter hop flavor and toasted malt. Not a very good DIIPA. For the price, much better options.

Bottle. Gold with a light head. Very floral aroma with spicy hops at the end. Pretty bland. Smells way better than it tastes.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hazy rusty copper. Mild aroma for a IIPA, some citrus and some grapefruit. Malt heavy beer with a bit of spicy, grassy hops. Not very memorable

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a fairly unattractive color, akin to dark and murky dishwater with a tan head. The beer is redeemed, however, by a nice aroma and flavor. Hops dominates, but this isnít one of those "hoppy for the sake of hoppy" beers, and it has a boozy, almost barley wine quality to it. For an 8% beer, itís pretty easy drinking (i.e. dangerous), but it doesnít live up to the great beers of the IIPA style.
