3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle from Crossroads Beer & Wine, Burlington, MA. The chocolate aroma leaps out as soon as the bottle is opened, but develops a more maple syrup vibe on pouring, one of the most attractive smells I’ve ever come across in a beer; the colour is deep chestnut brown with a thin tan head; it’s smooth and silky in the mouth with lots of dark cohocolate; but the finish is rather thin and watery with maple syrup sweetness and some light dryness - I was hoping for more.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz. Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, maple syrup, and pancakes. Poured brown/very deep orange in color with a tiny, off-white head around the edges only. Opaque. Not sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of chocolate, maple syrup, and pancake. It really tastes just like a traditional New York chocolate egg cream drink. Medium body. Thin, then dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Chocolate, maple syrup, egg cream finish is medium sweet and dry.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My dear Watson, you are correct. This beer is straight up cocoa puffs. man the aroma and flavor is uncanny...cocoa puffs. Not a whole lot else to say. A bit thin, quick finish, not complex...but if you like cocoa puffs...go get some!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an opaque chestnut with a thin tan head. Aroma has a slightly sweet chocolate...smells like cocoa puffs. Flavor follows suit...just like freakin cocoa puffs with a hint of roastiness. Mouthfeel is lignt/medium...too thin for a stout...and has a roasty/cocoa puff finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of heavy chocolate, maple syrup, and the slightest hint of roast. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a half finger beige head that quickly fades to a thin film outline by a thicker ring, The flavor starts with moderate chocolate syrup. The finish has a good dose of maple syrup with a hint of roast and coffee. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel just doesn’t match the flavors. I love the chocolate and maple syrup combination, but the mouthfeel doesn’t match up...the body is just too thin for this beer. Overall, add some body and some nice coffee notes, and this would be outstanding.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Unsweetened cocoa dominates taste, and I enjoyed it! Clear dark brown color, with limited head and body. Didn’t notice hops.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A nice beer that would have fantastic if the flavor had lived up to the promise of the nose. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured black with a medium sized foamy beige head that left no lacing. The aroma was strong chocolate, marshmallow and vanilla. The flavor was bitter, dryish and woody with mild notes of vanilla, coffee, chocolate and anise. The finish was long with wood, anise, vanilla and bitter chocolate lingering. Fairly full bodied and creamy. Interesting yet disappointing at the same time.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled January 2012. Pours slightly hazy dark brown color with a small 1 finger light tan head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big chocolate, caramel, toffee, roasted malt, vanilla, cream, and a touch of herbal hops. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, toffee, biscuit, and herbal hops. Good amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Not as much chocolate in the taste as I was hoping, but there is a good flavor balance. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish present. Overall this is a nice, pleasant, and enjoyable brew from Atwater. Very smooth and drinkable as well.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottled...Smells very sweet. Taste very malty, heavy syrupy dark chocolate with a little bitterness. Overall It is pretty good but almost taste like it is missing something. It tastes so close to Atwaters vanilla java porter The Decadent is just heavier syrup tasting. If you have not had it.... try it. They are very similar.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Aroma has notes of chocolate syrup, tootsie roll, maple syrup, a little coffee and nutty cereal malts. Very dark brown that sits black in the glass. Small off-white head that mostly diminished and left no lace. Flavor is medium sweet and bitter. Palate is light bodied and watery soft. Overall an okay brew but the flavor seems artificial, just like chocolate syrup.
