3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On nitro (labeled as "Atwater Nitro Dark Chocolate Stout"), served in a pint glass at Keystone-Clifton. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a cascading chocolate milk colored head that forms a lasting cap, eventually a thin film. Overall, itís a straightforward chocolate stout - nice malt balance between the sweet and roasty sides, with a smooth mouthfeel. Light-medium bodied, really easy drinking. Maybe a bit of caramel and brown sugar, and a little underlying earthiness. No complaints here. Based on the huge rating variances, I guess the treatment and age can really make or break this beer. Fresh on nitro is a winning format here.

This tasted more like a porter to me. The dark chocolate gives a heavier body.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice aromas of burbon, vanilla, coca cola, and milk chocolate. Deep coca cola body, the cap has receded to a thin film that leaves some patchy lace. Flavor is a bit of a let down after the aroma, thin watery chocolate malts, some burbon and vanilla touches, all on the faint side.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle which states ABV of 4.5% bottled on March í15 to shaker glass. Pours deep mahogany, quick one finger head, no lacing, very slight retention. Aroma of Cocoa Pebbles. Tastes slightly sweet, cocoa bitterness. Light bodied, average carbonation, watery mouth feel. Finish tastes like artificial chocolate. This isnít very good at all.

3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
BOD 2/15. Pours deep dark brown. Normal head volume, outstanding retention and lacing.
Rich nose of sweet dark chocolate with cocoa overtones with a hint of roast deep in the background. The aroma is very similar to hot chocolate with marshmallows. World Class.
Light body with a texture thicker than water, but not by much. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a fair amount in the finish.
Compared to the nose, the flavor profile is rather disappointing. The richness of the aroma never materializes on the palate. You get a weak flavor that you can finally identify as a weak somewhat bitter chocolate right before the finish. Sweetness never really delivers either...just subtle hints. The finish has a subtle roast component.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thought it would be a chocolatey stout, it is more like dark cocoa water. Really just the taste of lightly bitter chocolate powder in a drinkable form. Not stouty enough for stout lovers, not sweet enough for chocolate lovers.

Another disappointment from this brewery, aroma is nice chcolate, then it turns into a mess, taste is like watered down chocolate milk, just the worst, thin beyond belief, never again

Bottle. Chocolate syrup, malt, and light ash aroma. Dark brown with large tan head. Sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body. Delivers on the chocolate.

This is the second beer Iíve had like this in the past month and I am not a fan. Block Houseís Double Chocolate Bock was undrinkable and now this. This isnít as bad, but it is still bad. Strange fake saccharine chocolate aroma that smells more like a gross chocolate scented candle without the warmth. Almost like cheap chocolate cake with shitty icing. I know this is harsh, but this a harsh flavored beer.
