Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale has at its foundation a nutty profile with a round mouthfeel. added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet, experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.

BOD 2/15. Pours deep dark brown. Normal head volume, outstanding retention and lacing. Rich nose of sweet dark chocolate with cocoa overtones with a hint of roast deep in the background. The aroma is very similar to hot chocolate with marshmallows. World Class. Light body with a texture thicker than water, but not by much. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a fair amount in the finish. Compared to the nose, the flavor profile is rather disappointing. The richness of the aroma never materializes on the palate. You get a weak flavor that you can finally identify as a weak somewhat bitter chocolate right before the finish. Sweetness never really delivers either...just subtle hints. The finish has a subtle roast component.

Thought it would be a chocolatey stout, it is more like dark cocoa water. Really just the taste of lightly bitter chocolate powder in a drinkable form. Not stouty enough for stout lovers, not sweet enough for chocolate lovers.

Another disappointment from this brewery, aroma is nice chcolate, then it turns into a mess, taste is like watered down chocolate milk, just the worst, thin beyond belief, never again

Bottle. Chocolate syrup, malt, and light ash aroma. Dark brown with large tan head. Sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body. Delivers on the chocolate.

This is the second beer Iíve had like this in the past month and I am not a fan. Block Houseís Double Chocolate Bock was undrinkable and now this. This isnít as bad, but it is still bad. Strange fake saccharine chocolate aroma that smells more like a gross chocolate scented candle without the warmth. Almost like cheap chocolate cake with shitty icing. I know this is harsh, but this a harsh flavored beer.

Dated born on date "December 2014." This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking black color with a thin layer of white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds and left no lacing. The smell was awesome as it really lived up to its name, luscious milk chocolate woven between some vanilla and escaping through slight roasty coffee tones. Big wow! The taste seemed more tame and didnít have as much vanilla and roast. I have to admit that there was something developing that seemed slightly acidic in the flavor. Still, a little bit of milk chocolate leads the charge into the aftertaste. There was no finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. The carbonation was pretty tame but that probably had to do with its age. Overall, the smell has everything going for it however at the same time, I probably had this at the end of its shelf life. Still, Iíd try a fresh bottle if I could find it.

Bottle. Nearly black with small head. Amazing chocolate bar smell. Taste is more subtle. Malt , dry and some bitter chocolate at the end. Loved the aroma better than the taste, but still decent.

12oz bottle. Dark black color with little head. overwhelming sweet chocolate aroma. Almost a scotch aroma. Nice chocolate flavor without the burnt finish. The texture is a bit more watery than expected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown with nice head retention. Smells wonderful and decadent just like the name. I was expecting big rich chocolate flavors but was somewhat disappointed. The chocolate flavor didnít live up to the aroma and the mouthfeel was a bit thin and watery. Overall itís a good beer I was just expecting a richer mouthfeel and bolder chocolate.
