12oz bottle, from Country Fresh for $1.69. Bottled in March. Dark brown color. Little to minimal tan grayish head. Light bit of lace. Lighter to medium body. Light carbonation. Lightly dry texture. If this is supposed to be a stout, itís a little thin. Chocolate flavor tastes slightly artificial, but I appreciate that its a distinctly darker chocolate flavoring. Moderate roast malt. Hint of coffee. Light bitter taste, moderate sweet. Overall, a pretty solid, tasty, satisfying chocolate ale. Good to enjoy with my midnight snack. I was skeptical at first, but it grew on me as I went.

Tasted on 5/28/13 from a 12oz bottle obtained in the Easter Bunny BIF. Pours clear dark brown with an average beige head that slowly recedes to fairly thick, even lace. The nose is super creamy vanilla with tons of milk chocolate and just a bit of roast. The flavor is quite dry, with the same creamy milk chocolate texture and some dark chocolate roast. The body is actually fairly light with average carbonation and a long milk chocolate with some dark chocolate bitterness on the finish.

Overwhelming chocolate /coffee nose but thin and watery finish. They say its a dark chocolate ale (malt beverage) so not sure if it would fit into any specific style

Great chocolate nose. Pours like a stout but is thin like an ale. Great chocolate flavor, like Hershey's syrup. Kept thinking it needed some heat or at least some creamier mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour us a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice chocolate. Flavor is again a very sweet chocolate but not an intense as the aroma led me to believe. This was a fine chocolate ale. A decent heavy chocolate mouthfeel with just the right amount of sweetness. Way to go Atwater.

Pours a dark chocolate color. Nose is sweet with malt and chocolate. Taste is deep chocolate and a bit too cloyingly sweet. Finishes the same, maybe over a bowl of ice cream instead! Quaff Score 6 / 10

12 oz bottle, Whole Foods. Chocolate cola pour; light brown head becomes absolutely nothing with no lacing. Dominated by vanilla; notable chocolate; slight roast. Thin yet sticky. I want to like this but this feels too thin for how "decadent" itís trying to be.

Taste from Tony. Smells like a milkshake. Tastes like strong chocolate. Too sweet for some. Good for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark chocholate, cocoa. Very impressive amount of chocholate. Tasty but a little to overwhelming and tough to drink too much of it. Probably would be best in a milk shake or small amount with chochlate cake.

Dark brown pour, smallish head. Great aroma of bitter, dark chocolate. The flavor features a little more roast, espresso, and even a little vanilla, but still plenty of chocolate presence. Palate is a little light, but otherwise this is a good brew.
