COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lady Luck is smiling on you because a beer this big doesn’t come around very often. So, when it does, embrace it! This amber brown ale has a good floral and aromatically hoppy head. It’s bold, easy to drink and it finishes with a slight sweetness.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 3/18/10 - March Madness!

Aroma: Nose is fairly light, some caramel malts, dough, and citrus notes
Appearance: Pours a clear caramel color with a beige head and lots of lace
Flavor: Flavor is mostly malty, some caramel, pepper, earth, light hop bitterness, slightly tart finish
Palate: The body if this one is medium, with a somewhat metallic mouthfeel
Overall Impression: My second rating from this brewery is my first rating of the 2010 NCAA Tourney, and is for this alright beer. I just wasn’t really impressed, but at the same time it isn’t horrible. I love a good Imperial Amber, but this one misses that mark.

Bottle: Pours dark amber with, for me at least, almost no head. Thin caramel aroma. Pretty weak tasting, but drinkable.

Aroma is earthy malts and a hint of sweetness. The flavor is very earthy along with a dry maltiness and a mild sweetness. Decent, have had worse Amber Ales.

Here’s a muddy red brown ale with a red head on the label. I never over pour, but this heady mess wound up on my teak desk anyway. Imperial amber does not sound like a style, and RB doesn’t buy it either. Just an amber with extra malt. Smells of raisins and prunes , and for better or worse tastes that way too. Quick, dry finish. I dub this one a raizenbock.

Anything from atwater that i have had, overfoams to all hell. A super slow pour from a bottle overflows a pint glass. Dont know why or what they do at the brewery but its not good.

12 oz bottle from Spirits Toms River The Spot. Poured a good looking chunky reddish/amber with a huge frothy light beige head. Aroma is sweet and nasty. Notes of bad raisin and prune juice, glue and rotting molassess. The body is fuller with an almost chewy body with soft to average carbonation. The flavor is slightly better then the aroma but still sucks. Notes of bad honey, bad raisins, toast and waxy honeycombs. This is not a good beer.

First of all - Imperial Amber? Really? Isn’t that an oxymoron? However, even with the goofy style, this is actually pretty good - pretty malty with a lot of toast and molasses, and a nice crisp finish.

A hazed golden ale with a thick off white head. In aroma, a sweet biscuitty malt with doughy character. In mouth, a smooth crisp malt with British hops, medium bodied. Grassy. On tap at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, Oct. 22 2011.

Draft. Pours reddish brown with an off white head. Sweet crystal malty aroma with lighter hoppy notes. The flavor has toffee and crystal malts, with some floral hoppy and light earthy notes. Not bad.

On Tap. Rattle N Hum NYC. WTF! Blahhhh. Ok now that I got that out. Nice dark red pour with a thin head. Coppery licorice awefull palet. Don’t bother. (was this to Harsh?)

From notes: pours clear reddish-amber with a 1-finger tan head. Mild, piney hops aroma, maybe a spice note underneath. Palate is deep, slightly oily. Piney hops flavor with a nutty spice note beneath that becomes more prominent as it warms. I liked this, but subsequent purchases didn’t seem as good. Maybe haphazard quality control, given the variations in the other ratings.
