COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our malty, sweet dark lager is a hometown favorite. Our Dunkel is packed with subtle roasted malt flavors without the excessive bitterness and heaviness of many dark beers and has a balanced hop finish. O.G. 13.5 Plato 5.2% ABV

I really used to like this beer, but it has been difficult to find since stoney creek bought it. A great starter for someone expirimenting with darks.

deep brown, with a nice beige head with huge bubbles. lots of maltiness in the nose with quite the subtle grassy hops and a roasted finish.

Dark clear reddish brown in color with a small white head that doesn't last long, not much in lacing either. Bready and nutty aromas, starts sweet and bready with some caramel and nutty flavors, medium bodied, with a thick and semi-syrupy mouthfeel, finishes smooth and sweet.

Reddish-brown cola-like colour with a small, whispy tan head. Aroma is faint with hints of malt roastiness and a background note of wet cardboard. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Flavour holds both sweet malt and finishing hops, but in seemingly small quantities. Like most of the Stoney Creek beers I've tried, this is fairly bland, unexciting and inoffensive.

Yet another good beer from Stoney Creek. This brewery is really starting to impress me. The Dunkel pours out to a nice, dark, amber to black color in the glass with a very, slight head. Taste is quite malty and slightly sweet. A very, easy to drink dunkel and a beer that would go over with the macro set.

Thin as the other "Atwaters" and it's faint qualities were hard to capture, especially at a festival among dozens of other samples. Sweet malt was tiny but true and the finish was cartainly hopped, but just enough to grasp.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2004 2003 draught.Light brown to burnt umber. Little head. Smells a bit sweet and can detect a rich malt. Tastes initially of sweet barley malt but also brings forth some licorice/fruit notes and quickly turns into a medium bodied, even beer. Some complexity (earthy malt notes on the side of the palette) and no bitterness. Dont know much about the style but this seemed like an all around well made beer. It just needs more body and flavor, didnt taste too much of the hops. 2004 Draught. No sweetness, roast is out of place. Flavor is dry and astringent. not as good as I remember.

This brew poured a quick dissolving head. There was little lacing on the sides of my glass. The body was dark red.

This belnd certainly was not bad or offensive. The problem is that I couldn’t smell it and could hardly taste it. It might have been balanced so well that everything cancelled out, I’m not too sure, but stick with their Vanilla Porter.

Has something of a cult following among brewery patrons and it is, in fact, The best looking Stoney brew - a strong color and fair lacing, even some head retention. The taste is odd - interesting roasts and cough syrup - the last strange to find not least because the body is rather small.
